And yet his 8 assists (2 years in a row) were more than our entire midfield roster of Sigurdsson, Rooney, Davies, Geuye, Schneiderlin, Vlasic, Klaassen, McCarthy, Bolasie, Sandro and Lookman managed combined last year in a team.

It’s the old out of sight thing. We do it with injured players too.

It’s an Everton phenomenon isn’t it... the longer a player is out the better he apparently gets.

Did you watch Barkley at all the season before we sold him? Or are you fishing?

When off form, the whole game by passes him. He barely makes a sprint. And his passing was awful.

He hasn’t been on form for a long time for us, other than 10/15min spells here and there.

Barkley was our second best player behind lukaku the season before we sold him. Controlled the midfield for us by drifting in off the right and allowing Coleman the freedom of the right flank. His form was only affected when Coleman got injured and we lost his presents on the right stopping Barkley to drift into the middle.

Lad was a rat but people who make out like he was terrible for us especially in koemans first season needs to give their heads a wobble.

Would I want him back? No the lads a rat and did the dirty on us. Also I saw him against Newcastle last day of the season and he didn't even look like a premier league player.

The problem I have is that both my eyes and the stats completely contradict that.

I saw a player who could break defensive lines with dribbling and passing. The stats showed that. By FAR our most creative player.

I saw a player who touched the ball a lot. The stats also show that. He literally touched the ball twice as much as the player who replaced him.

Was he perfect? No. Is he world class? No.

But just like Stones his imperfections are massively outweighed by what they bring to the team.

I can't see how anyone could think our team is better without than it was with.

Screw the stats mate I sat and watched that lad play football week in and week out! His decision making is shocking and quite frankly he's not good enough. People talk about wanting to push in if that's the case he's not the answer.

Not even sure people are talking about him the lad screwed the club over, got his money and got his move. History!

So who is better ? Gylfi ? Davies ? Gueye ? Mccarthy ? Schneids ? Dowell ? Besic ?

Barkley is a better footballer than all of them and by some distance. I look forward to seeing the mental gymnastics involved in trying to argue they are somehow better than him.

This is so unbelievable false. Everyone ELSES eyes saw a player who could only break turnover records when he tried to pass the ball. Everyone else saw a player that would kill just about every fast break with terrible passes and terrible decisions.

Well this is just wrong. We were a much better team when he played than without. I don't want him back because I don't think it'd work, but he'd be an improvement on what we've got.

Ross "fannies around with it" Barkley in his last season with us playing in a midfield 3 or wide right: 5 goals, 8 assists, average of 2.5 shots and 2.3 dribbles per game, 45 passes a game

Gylfi "our best player" Sigurdsson: 4 goals, 3 assists, average of 1.4 shots, 0.7 dribbles, 25 passes a game.

We're going to pretend like gylfi wasn't played as a LW most of the season?

He beat his chest kissed the badge and pointed to the street end ..... then promptly refused a contract and ran his almost all the way down so the club got nothing much.

I hope to never see him and wish him only bad things professionally.

Besic is good, the rest are all trash (the young lads still have time though)

By the end Barkley was having an internal debate before every 5 yard pass. He’s broken. He doesn’t like discipline and he can’t be trusted when the leash was loosened.

Or that when Ross played in a midfield 3 he did it well enough that he it wasn't neccessary to bring a knackered Rooney back into midfield so we had someone who got on the ball and made a pass?
