Would he be classed as a Judas though if he didn't? He may have his own plans and 5 years at Everton and move on may have well been that plan. Lots of players get tagged with things for running down a contract and leaving a club but it may never have been their plan. Barkley and the like being the exception as they are born and bred from anckuv and go out of the way to make a point of being a fan etc.

God dammit, I wish teams wouldn't offer players new deals after just one good season. If you do that wheres their determination to play better? Do spurs hands out lucrative contacts so willy nilly?

Nothing to do with rewarding him after one good season, it's all to do with the longer the contract, the more the buying club has to cough up if they want him.
