This man knows his onions.

My reaction if we actually signed him!

Be arsed giving him a new deal on the basis that sky sources say he's Chelsea number 1 target.

Didn't them same sources say we were signing Malcom a couple of weeks back, gtf.

Would he be classed as a Judas though if he didn't? He may have his own plans and 5 years at Everton and move on may have well been that plan. Lots of players get tagged with things for running down a contract and leaving a club but it may never have been their plan. Barkley and the like being the exception as they are born and bred from anckuv and go out of the way to make a point of being a fan etc.

If he didn’t sign a new deal?

If a deal has been offered and he doesn’t sign it it could be construed as a sign he wants out.

With all the talk of Chelsea’s interest it could just be his agent trying to get him better terms following the World Cup.

As far as loyalty/being a Judas, I think he owes us a bit of short term loyalty and based on what has been said to him I think he will.

Nothing to do with rewarding him after one good season, it's all to do with the longer the contract, the more the buying club has to cough up if they want him.

Didn't he sign like a five year deal anyway. Unless it's a ridiculous offer he shouldn't be for sale regardless of his contract.

Then again, he was the only one who performed last season and If some of the other players see that this is how they could be rewarded if they pull their finger out of their arse, maybe they will actually try a tad harder.

So true. I bet Brands eyes are glued to SSN and he definitely could never have received a call from Chelsea or thought maybe it might make sense to reward our player of the season and England's player of the tournament.

I read an article about spurs, apparently they do, that’s why they always get top dollar for players as they usually have 3 or 4 years left

Yeah as I said it I was starting to think that they do offer new contracts a lot, but what they do is offer small increases, I mean how on earth they keep the calibre of player they do on tiny wages (comparatively) is beyond me. They must pay loads on performance bonuses, which is what I would like us to do.
