we won't have left them though- we'll have been trying for months.
the issue for us is clear- we want defenders who are the very best we can obtain rather than the Mawsons / Gibsons We still have 3 days to get the deals done.

Can see only one CB coming in now if I'm honest. If we happen to make another 1-2 signings after that then we've done very well.

I’ll be happy with one CB, but I get the impression there’s plenty of action still to come. Silvas comments indicate he’s expressed his concerns and it’s over to Marcel to work out what can be done.

I’ve been happy with what has been done but I’d be happier if Silva was supplied with what he felt was needed. Especially as it’s harder to purchase January time and if we don’t get off to a decent start then we would look more unattractive and possibly even at more of a disadvantage than we are now.

Nope. He's the real deal. Excellent defender, natural leader. Perfect fit as far as I'm concerned; should be the #1 target.

I still think under the right set up there's an international in Keane too. Not sure a high line, high press defence is the right way for him to shine mind.

I think we can all agree that Keane looks excellent in a low-block team (like Burnley). But we aren't going to play that way and, as you say, he looks horrifically immobile in a high press defence.

Lascelles seems the same to me. I've only seen him 6 or 7 times but he looks susceptible to pace and will struggle in a team wanting to play expansive football.
