ermmm, wha? you're quoting players who were bought about 5+ years ago, way before figures got silly. We got cahill, coleman and arteat for pennies years ago as well. Maddison has started well, but we didn't need him. We got richarlison and bernard who are both better players and that will show as the season progresses. Our obsession recently has been spending way too much on dross from britain! That's been our problem (williams, bolasie, keane, , schneiderlin, siggurdsson (to an extent)) not our overseas signings.

Nah, that too many overseas players loses team identity and teams a resultteams lose that will/ belief / know how to win that builds up in a group over time. not saying they care less or aren't ' better', just that too many doesn't work. Rooney was shot or he may have done the job, albeit there were plenty of games he was of the bigger scoring Motm contenders on this forum.

Sigs, BOLASIE, M&s are examples of Overseas players, expensive, none of whom are leaders or with the kind clenched fist that buys you 5-10 points a season, and have to date underwhelmed. Fingers crossed for sigs, though I'd swap him for Ramsey in a heartbeat. Lookman for bolasie etc.

They bailed out due to the agent fees, they weren't there to the end at all.
4 days after they cancelled the deal we signed him.

We should of had the upper hand, Barca wanted rid, we were the only team interested and it was the last day of the season.
Yet they still nearly trebled his price, which was basically based on his Colombia appearances.

The sensible thing to do and what Brands and Silva seemed to do in the summer was look at the squad fix the glaring deficiencies and see how we got on
We all said CBs and LB
He got 2 CB and a LB
WE all said left wing
He got Ricarlison
We all said CM
He got Gomes
Stek was finished , Robles was leaving
He got country roads
I would assume the next big signing is going to be a CF

We dont particularly need to improve RB or RF as a priority...but it we moved on Coleman and Walcott for Militao and Malcolm that would be a positive step...

...I think he’s a bit more classy. Silva says his no6 plays a vital role because they dictate the pace of play, I think Gomes is that type. Saying that, I could be entirely wrong.

Gomes is a CM mate...not a deep playmaker.

Yeah but seems to be a bit of a late afterthought imo. He seems more of a gueye and Davies competetor rather than what we need.

Davies and Gana aren't remotely the same player. Gomes is a CM, more of an 8 than anything. He's also good and will walk into our side.
