Summer 2018 Transfer Window

We ideally need a mix of both - a big physical player who can get about.

Look, I'm not advocating it, but if we were after a 'template' of any striker, for me it should be the Welbeck type.

Now, i don't particularly want us to sign Welbeck, but I do think we need someone who has pace and a bit of strength, who is also decent on the ball. Josh King would be another PL-proven striker for that role.

I'm sure Brands/Silva have their targets, but I do think that's the type of player we need to be aiming for.

Id not be happy with either of them...i cant see any forwards who are attainable in the league who we should be after.

Think it will be a leftfield signing...in fact i dont have a clue who we may be after in any positions just want to see the same level players as in summer signed

Literally our best players this season have been Richarlison, Lucas Digne & Kurt Zouma

And thats before we draft in 2 more players that were "hard baraginied" into the club in Gomes & Mina

That's a good point mate regarding who our best players have been. It bodes well that if given a couple of more windows we might see the end of some of the absolute tosh we've had to endure and actually have a team/squad capable of playing decent togger week in week out

Oh no Zat, I didn't make myself clear mate. They were just examples - off the top of my head - of the type of player i think would do well in this system. A mix of a target man and someone who can get in behind/stretch teams.

England U21 Squad

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Sheffield United, loan from Manchester United), Angus Gunn (Southampton), Freddie Woodman (Newcastle United)

Defenders: Ben Chilwell (Leicester City), Jake Clarke-Salter (Vitesse Arnhem, loan from Chelsea), Dael Fry (Middlesbrough), Jonjoe Kenny (Everton), Ezri Konsa (Brentford), Fikayo Tomori (Derby County, loan from Chelsea), Kyle Walker-Peters (Tottenham Hotspur), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Crystal Palace)

Midfielders: Harvey Barnes (West Bromwich Albion, loan from Leicester City), Lewis Cook (AFC Bournemouth), Tom Davies (Everton), Kieran Dowell (Everton), Josh Onomah (Sheffield Wednesday, loan from Tottenham Hotspur)

Forwards: Tammy Abraham (Aston Villa, loan from Chelsea), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Ademola Lookman (Everton), Reiss Nelson (Hoffenheim, loan from Arsenal), Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham), Dominic Solanke (Liverpool)

As posted in the Youth teams thread;
Kenny
Davies
Lookman
Dowell
DCL

Ive seen some posters comment on Wan-Bissaka and Cook as being interesting targets for us.

Wan-Bissaka and Kenny competing for the RB position + it will be interesting to see if Cook and Davies are central and how they play together.

I know theres alot of negative comments about each of our participants but i would say;

Kenny looks to be settling into RB and has shown improvements

Davies is actually trying to make things happen

Lookman appears to have done well in the Southampton game + hard to judge without a run of games

Dowell castigated but hard to be dropped into a team rather than being eased in

DCL has been in/out and not had a run at CF

I think we should be proud that we have 5 players who could all legitimately be starters in this England u21 side.

The team needs a top midfielder who can score goals and a top number 9 who can score goals.

EFC do not have these players in-house so lets see what Silva and Brands can do..

Welbeck is not that player.. his best days are over a bit like Morgan..

I wouldn’t mind a bid for Rashford but I think the price may be too high and I think Brands will go to Europe or South America for a solution to our CF woes

When we were linked in the summer fir a rumoured 20mil, I said it would never happen that we would pay that for an injury prone player, who will also properly want 100k a week.

But on a free I would take him as back up. And sell tosun, DCL & niasse
And use that money to try and buy a top quality striker.

I think Rashford’s price wouldn’t justify what he’s done so far in the game.

A mate of mine is a Utd fan and says he and lingard are massively overrated. And only around the England team because they play fir Utd. He says Martial is a much more talented footballer the Rashford.

I argued he never plays upfront, but apparently at the end of last season lukaku had an injury and he played 4 or 5 games upfront and was awful. And first game this season v Leicester he was also upfront and had a poor game, according to my mate.

i don't believe welbeck has ever had days tbh. I've never rated him, but somehow he's played for the prem's two best teams. I think if he'd come down a level or two, even to a team of our quality he'd quickly slide down to a worse team as he wouldn't have others helping him out. He's had big moments tbf to him, but just a shocking player who wouldn't improve us and i think the fans would hate him. Don't think he'd be on the radar though.

i'm a fan of rashford, but i don't think he's the real deal either. We need a proper scorer and i don't think he's that. He is a striker with pace who works hard tbf so i wouldn't be against it, i just don't think he's what's required. Martial could be a better option although i have the same doubts again and feel he'd work a lot less. The last thing this squad needs is another player who won't work their bollocks off, that's for sure.

Might be a bit of a pipe dream, but either of the 2 lads at Valencia Rodrigo or Batshuayi would do me.
Seems like Valencia may have a typically Valencian CL season and finish mid table. Big money bid for Rodrigo may be enough if we're near to the top 6 or even in it
