Not in the last few days no, but it was widely reported in the January window and again in March/April time that he was a target.

So before we got a completely different guy in to do the transfers?

Vardy would be a bad signing. He's virtually entirely reliant on his pace and once it goes, he's done.
He's also not going to get much rest over the summer as he's off to the World Cup with England and played virtually every match for Leicester since they were promoted, so could struggle next season due to fatigue.
He's also characteristic of the poor signings made by Walsh and Koeman. Older, 'proven' players signed for big money, on big wages who just don't perform.

I actually think Rose is the type of signing that would make people sit up and take notice. Englands first choice left back, twice named in the PFA team of the year and a regular for a Spurs side which has been one of the leagues most consistent sides for the last few years. I was genuinely surprised when I saw him linked with us so I'm pretty sure the wider world would be.

Despite all that, i'm not sure that dropping £30m+ on a left back is going to solve too many of our problems so I don't know if it's a goer.

No it wouldn't solve problems but would fix non-problems. I.E playing inside forwards rather than wingers (lookman, vlasic type (even DCL)) would have not near as much consequence.

Would be an awesome addition.

As I said above, I was just saying that it wasn't a completely irrelevant discussion in the transfer thread, seeing as we had been strongly linked with him over recent months. Also worth pointing out that it's been an open secret that Brands was coming for at least 2 months now, and there have been other names mentioned (Fabra for example) who people believe would be a Brands signing, despite the links starting way before we announced him.

Danny Rose is Englands No 1 left back and at his peak. He won't be coming here whether we're willing to spend big money on him or not. He'll be waiting for United to make him an offer and i'd imagine will be quite happy to use our name to smoke them out.

The most important things for any of the signings we make this summer is the attitude of being a winner, not soft who allows others to bully them, and a bit of snide agression For too long we've signed the mr nice guys who don't want to ruffle a feather in case they hurt the oppositions feelings or their fans ;-(

I had him down as injury prone as well but it looks like he's only had one really big injury in about 5 years

I don't think he's trying to fool anyonebut it does him no harm if other clubs show interest - that's assuming we're actually interested.
