Fekir is more inclined to play the role Oxlade/Lallana play. Not really a replacement for their front 3.

The problem we have is once the WC starts inly the very top clubs often gst signings done so we will essentially be waiting for targets if they are at the WC to be knocked out and should they have a good tournament their fee's shoot up so negotiations take longer bargaining and other clubs rival us (the likes who can probably offer CL football) .

I think Silva should have come right into the club with the knowledge of at the minimum the club needing a LB and CB so to no link whatoever to a defender I find is poor. LM, CM are other areas but you could argue Silva/Brands need to look at the likes of Lookman and Schneirderlin however those other positions we should be getting players in the door now.

To be honest what we are seeing is the top CL clubs sign players because the player knows they won’t get better regardless of the WC. No right minded agent would let their player sign for a club before a WC. So signings will be at the top clubs or those not at the WC, most buisness will begin when teams start getting knocked out IMHO.

1) you take a punt on a academy player
2) you scout outside of Italy Germany Spain and england

That’s where Brands and his scouting network come into play, if he can find us a Richarlison type of player at a decent price then I’d be well happy with that

The transfer model is there, buy young keep for a few seasons and then sell high.

So where does Shaqiri fit into that model? He’s not young and would demand big money and release clauses in his contract. We could never make any kind of worthwhile profit on him and I doubt he would improve us enough to us to make a punt on him.

It would be a very short-sighted, limited, Sam Allardyce type of transfer.

Im just not confident at all of the club moving forward at present mate and as I posted in the BMD thread I think until the new ground is built/season before its going to be 3-4 seasons of mediocity and treading water. Silva was at best a risky punt and Moshiri seems to have reigned in the spending after the kitty was wasted last season so I fear the gap between the top 6 will be too far to bridge unless Kuwait or Saudi Arabia decide to state sponser a PL club and we get a city style takeover post BMD.

Heck my main worry is Mendes and Wolves pushing us for 7th and taking our EL spot long term.
