Stop being obsessed by the RS.
Just accept they are a million miles ahead of us and will probably win the league
We can and must get better but it will take time given the rubbish we need to offload and the quality we need to sign.
If we don't ...

Thankfully City will also strengthen. They’ve got one of the best left backs in Europe back from injury adding to a team that walked the league. There’ll be others as well.

Well I dont think we have a choice, personally.

As always I assume that the people in charge can see beyond what I can.

Check out the Willy C thread big man.

I'm convinced he'd boss it for us. Just not convinced that the links aren't jarg.

I might follow it up with some diagrams.

I'd take Shaqiri as a cheap option. The lad does have quality, he's just nowhere near consistent enough.

However, I do think he has Leicester/Geordie scruffs written all over him and I'd rather see us go big for someone like Lozano first.

I wouldn’t go near the little scruff. He’s badly Mirallas with a egotistical, self loving way about how great he his

Im just not confident at all of the club moving forward at present mate and as I posted in the BMD thread I think until the new ground is built/season before its going to be 3-4 seasons of mediocity and treading water. Silva was at best a risky punt and Moshiri seems to have reigned in the spending after the kitty was wasted last season so I fear the gap between the top 6 will be too far to bridge unless Kuwait or Saudi Arabia decide to state sponser a PL club and we get a city style takeover post BMD.

Heck my main worry is Mendes and Wolves pushing us for 7th and taking our EL spot long term.

Money isn’t alway the answer, we found this out last season, in fact I’d prefer success without doing it the City or Chelsea way. It can be done, Utd did it, Arsenal did it, Leicester dit it. You need strong structures, coaches and scouts and absolute patience and loyalty we’re talking three to five years.

We had a better team under Moyes and didn’t have any money. It’s more then possible. We have a tradition of developing players, but a poor tradition of keeping the best of them. We need to be Arsenal signing players before they are stars, having strong youth teams and sprinkling with high quality highly priced stars. That unfortunately is incremental.

A massive gaff was made last summer, this season is running the anti virus for me, a step forward will be the year after, we blew the boom last year and just highlighted the need for the combined approach I mention above, if you rely solely on making signings, signing potential or developing your players it fails. It has to be a combo of all.

Arsenal should be our model in my opinion. Ironically I’m optimistic that Arsenal and Chelsea will decline now and they should be our aim.

I think the days of Arsenal and Utd building a dynasty all conquering side with a manager from Japan or Scotland are long gone mate, Leicester was also an utter fluke and wont happen again for a very long time.

Liverpool are doing it right but they are still spending £40-50 million per player which until BMD is built and our finances grow we needed Moshiri to have the pockets/desire to embark on that sort of spending- something which doesnt look the case.

At best I can see us bringing in 2-3 players this window for say £20-25 million a pop with another in on loan with a few out the door recouping most if not all of our outlay. Not a disaster by any means but certaintly nothing to excite me thinking we will acheive anything but a tight 7th/8th spot finish.
