I think the days of Arsenal and Utd building a dynasty all conquering side with a manager from Japan or Scotland are long gone mate, Leicester was also an utter fluke and wont happen again for a very long time.
Liverpool are doing it right but they are still spending £40-50 million per player which until BMD is built and our finances grow we needed Moshiri to have the pockets/desire to embark on that sort of spending- something which doesnt look the case.
At best I can see us bringing in 2-3 players this window for say £20-25 million a pop with another in on loan with a few out the door recouping most if not all of our outlay. Not a disaster by any means but certaintly nothing to excite me thinking we will acheive anything but a tight 7th/8th spot finish.
We will agree to disagree there mate, I think it’s more then possible. In fact I think a stable structure is a niche that there to be filled.
We only need 2-3 players a season now, that’s the ideal, you want to get to a point where it’s hard to improve your team, we are woefully imbalanced but it’s not impossible to balance it out and try and improve on 8th with a strategy.
Next season we need to hit par with this season, much work needs to be done behind the scene, I think we are more skint then others do, our wage bill is gone north of 120 million. That said some news in recent days is that the club has taken out an advance on the Lukaku and Stones deals or rather, rolled over the repayment of the advance that’s 34 million, we just kicked that down the road until the end of next season. The good is it creates cash flow, the negative is it shows we had limited cash flow before doing it.
