Summer 2018 Transfer Window

I think the days of Arsenal and Utd building a dynasty all conquering side with a manager from Japan or Scotland are long gone mate, Leicester was also an utter fluke and wont happen again for a very long time.

Liverpool are doing it right but they are still spending £40-50 million per player which until BMD is built and our finances grow we needed Moshiri to have the pockets/desire to embark on that sort of spending- something which doesnt look the case.

At best I can see us bringing in 2-3 players this window for say £20-25 million a pop with another in on loan with a few out the door recouping most if not all of our outlay. Not a disaster by any means but certaintly nothing to excite me thinking we will acheive anything but a tight 7th/8th spot finish.

We will agree to disagree there mate, I think it’s more then possible. In fact I think a stable structure is a niche that there to be filled.

We only need 2-3 players a season now, that’s the ideal, you want to get to a point where it’s hard to improve your team, we are woefully imbalanced but it’s not impossible to balance it out and try and improve on 8th with a strategy.

Next season we need to hit par with this season, much work needs to be done behind the scene, I think we are more skint then others do, our wage bill is gone north of 120 million. That said some news in recent days is that the club has taken out an advance on the Lukaku and Stones deals or rather, rolled over the repayment of the advance that’s 34 million, we just kicked that down the road until the end of next season. The good is it creates cash flow, the negative is it shows we had limited cash flow before doing it.

Realistically the only clubs who can create a dynasty in the league are City, Chelsea and Utd

One is owned by a state
The other owned by a very rich individual
The other a corporate behemoth

Leicester fluked the title and were ripped apart by vultures the season after/unable to attract/pay the calibre of player capable of keeping them up there.

Monaco had the same problem in France and Spurs for all the good they will likely lose Aldwerld, Rose and lost Walker last season. If Pochettino goes and they appoint a dud manager they could struggle.

I would love to get to the level of Spurs/RS but we need to invest big to get that pool of players who if we sell we can reinvest the money on 3-4 better players - a reverse of last summer!

I dont think we are skint, I just think we are being prudent, im almost certain that Moshiri is willing to back us, if he feels that his money is in safe hands. I agree that its now likely that we wont see a massive net spend this window, we have a LOT of assets on our books tho, so whilst we arent "paper rich" we have something to "trade".

Will be an interesting summer tho for sure.

There has been a serious amount of investment into the club over the last few years, I just think Moshiri wants to see some sort of "return" before he considers spunking another 300m up the wall. I also dont think there will be penny pinching, I think Brands remit is to punt and keep punting, till we cant punt no more.

Still think we are looking at 3 biggish signings and 3 yoots, keeping my 18 out the door, havent decided if im counting Connor Grant, will let you know if I need him!

So many teams lately getting investigated I’d much rather we stuck to sell to buy or whatever it is we do.

Maybe his arse is still flapping about us "getting relegated almost", hes put some serious money into us, which is all fine and dandy till we go full Villa and hes left looking a twerp.

As I say, we have assets to sell and we have massive sponsorship and tv money, record ticket sales, just a period of prudence, Marcel got all this.

Reckon if they could hypothetically ship everyone they want out this week we would end up spending BIG. But can see us really struggling to shift a lot.
