There's also the realistic FFP aspect isn't there? If we want to go for better players, we simply have to shift the deadwood first. It's the sensible thing to do.I dont think we are skint, I just think we are being prudent, im almost certain that Moshiri is willing to back us, if he feels that his money is in safe hands. I agree that its now likely that we wont see a massive net spend this window, we have a LOT of assets on our books tho, so whilst we arent "paper rich" we have something to "trade".
Will be an interesting summer tho for sure.
There has been a serious amount of investment into the club over the last few years, I just think Moshiri wants to see some sort of "return" before he considers spunking another 300m up the wall. I also dont think there will be penny pinching, I think Brands remit is to punt and keep punting, till we cant punt no more.
Still think we are looking at 3 biggish signings and 3 yoots, keeping my 18 out the door, havent decided if im counting Connor Grant, will let you know if I need him!
And therein lies the problem. Moving on under performing players on big contracts isn’t going to be easy. There's also the realistic FFP aspect isn't there? If we want to go for better players, we simply have to shift the deadwood first. It's the sensible thing to do.
Been using Fekir as my #10 in my FIFA career save... gonna have to sell him now. lol
'sake
Brain says sensible. Gut says spend like a drunken sailor in a brass house.Moving on players with big contract will be tough but paying them off for 70% of their contact isn't.
Club's like City and United, have been doing it for years mainly to teams like us.
Players like Bolasie, Williams, Schneiderlin and Mirallas don't have time on their side so the combination of us paying them plus a new start at a new club should be more of an incentive for their last BIG pay day.
However players like Sandro and Klaassen can sit on their Big Everton Walsh deals for 2 more years and go out on loan. Only positive to that is if they perform well then the loan club may want to purchase but we will still make a loss in the long term.
The biggest question for Everton fans is would you settle for 6 to 10 players leaving but only 3 coming in?
Fans don't see not buying players as improvement but as a failure (see Arsenal TV)
I would be happy buying 3 key players a season for £20-£40m and getting the players coaches properly instead of a manager with 4 or 5 coaches doing it for them aka Koeman, Fat Sam.
But is rebalancing the books favourable again at Goodison

I’ll be catching a flight at 06.15am so won’t be doing a summary tomorrow. I’m on holiday for a week, but will endeavour to post something each morning even if it’s a little later than usual.
And that's great, enjoy your sleep.
But soem of us care about the club, we put an awful lot of time + money into.
But enjoy putting fellow blues down when you probably haven't been a game in donkeys.
Sleep tight now.
It will be Brands making the final call on wether we shop local.“Last summer, Silva said: “It is important to look for English players who know the competition but it’s not easy to find good solutions.
“The market is not easy between English clubs. We’ve signed two young international players, two quality players. If English players come it’s better for our roster. If they know the Premier League and know the culture it’s better.”
Hughes scored two goals and provided three assists in 15 Premier League appearances last season report the Liverpool Echo “
Interesting that he was looking for English players when he joined Watford. Perhaps there’s something in the Maddison rumours after all.
