I don't think Kluivert would have come here and been happy with the 4th choice winger spot anyway. Would turn into a Lookman/Allardyce situation pretty quickly. Lookman and Vlasic wouldn't accept it either, especially with us having fewer games this season.

Dowell was mentioned as an option earlier and I guess DCL can fill in there too. It's not vital to keep him but with a full pre-season, Bolaise could surprise quite a lot of people here IMO.

He is a talented kid, very talented. I don’t think he will be 4th choice, on par with Lookman and far better than Bolasie.

Dowell lack pace. I don’t see Dowell as a natural winger at all. It’s like playing mata on the wings, mismatch.

Lookman isn't a winger, either. Silva is going to need wide options tactically. Even if he wants the backs to occupy that space MOST of the time, you have to be adaptable. Walcott can play wing, but he's also more of an inside forward. So Bolasie isn't useless on this team.

Obviously, if we can get Chucky, who can play as a winger - and inside, FYI - the need for Bolasie is gone.

Fenerbahce Want Bolasie on loan, I dont see the point, would rather be left on a permanent transfer, even if it was “undisclosed” (ie so low it was embarrassing for us to disclose how much, considering what we paid for him)

Do you honestly believe Ben Davies or Ashley Young are better defenders than Baines? Or are they both playing in systems which promote defensive excellence?

Utd are dour under Jose because they defend deep and compact. Spurs press high and stop attacks at source.

Us? We expose our full backs (latter year Martinez) or have them sit so deep that it curtails their offensive prominence.

They do and the fans are well onto them.

It does matter. I like Lookman. I'd start him on the current squad. But I'm bit sure how you know he'd be a good winger.

Baines poss my favourite modern era Everton player. Gets murdered on here in the most. Did look spent last season. Saints away cemented that. We do need a long term replacement. You're right tho it's about context. Would Baines fit into Young or Davies roles at their clubs?
