West Ham just throw out interest in players to show willing to the fans. They just wait for a player silly enough to sign for them for what they are willing to play. The only thing they have going for them is their location. I'm sure if we wanted Diop we would have at least made our interest aware with WH in discussions. Obviously we aren't interested.

Stoke spaffed a load of money on names and promptly got relegated - we dallied with it. Better to take time and be sure ! Assume West Ham will sell their most effective player in Arnautovic and be left in a similar situation as us without Lukaku.

It's always worth taking into account that agents have to drum up competing interest to drive up the price - perhaps we have no interest in Diop, Mawson, Maddison etc.
