I think Brands is strong willed enough to not give a damn though mate. I don't think he will be swayed, and I think (and hope) that Moshiri will have faith with him.

I am very relaxed about the whole thing, but know we're unlikely to see results for a good year at least. It will take time. It took Athletico time and it took PSV time under Brands. If we are going in the right direction though, that will do me.

I think Brands will try mate, it's not easy though. De Ligt would be a real wow signing for us. We would be getting the best in the world at his age in his position. We missed out big time not getting VVD 2 years ago.

What I hope we continue to do, is the Gibson/Bowler/DCL type signings. We need to be making more of these.

I’d be delighted if every player we signed from now on was 24 or under and we stuck to a decent salary cap. So what if we don’t sign established superstars? Paying a player 50% more than the rest of the squad would only lead to issues anyway.

The squad we had last season finished 8th and we had Coleman missing for the majority, Sig out for loads, Martina playing left back and Walcott and Tosun only joined in Jan. Add in Lookman who could offer more and I’d expect Silva to get us 7th even without additions, all whilst playing better football.

There will be a few additions but we’ll have to pay for the waste that has been the last few windows. That doesn’t mean we can’t still compete though.

I think people get on board if the can see a clear policy that is applied consistently and communicated. We have had none of those things over the last 2 and arguably over the last 20. As long as the message is consistently applied I think more people will get on board than we suspect.

If we don't communicate properly though, and allow others both within and outside of the club to set the agenda frustration will build.

If we’re ever going to properly compete at the top again I think it’s got to come from the youth system and a massive part of that is getting recruitment right at that stage.

Yes I agree with all of that mate. I think Brands realises that and we need to communicate that more clearly. We also need to be very clear to the wider media just how exceptional our academy has been. We are the best "finishing school" in England and we ought to make more of it. (Signings like Ashford, even on loan become a distinct possibility with this).

RLC would be an incredible signing for us too, i think its highly unlikely and so i expect a different midfielder to come in.

As for Lozano, it will be interesting what happens there...brands will know him inside out.

Personally wouldnt go for loan signings...unless theres a buy clause involved...

Think even Bergwijn at PSV would be a good alternative to Lozano + ideally a few centre back alternatives.

I do wonder though if we would start Holgate and De Ligt together if we did manage to pull it off...

One thought though, is Richarlinson & Lozano were bought for around 25 million by Silva & Brands. If you factor in inflation you'd probably be looking at around 40-45 million pounds. We need to be the team that buys them initially, and I hope we see more left field signings like that coming in.

I would mate.I think we have to be pragmatic and we need to pitch ourselves as an exceptional developer of talent. Would you not take RAshford and Dembele on loan if one or both became available?

As we saw with Lukaku/Peinaar, if they stay for a season they are likely to remain beyond that point. Martinez mentioned doing this and could never quite pull it off. That was a shame for me, but lots of young players full out of favour. I'd have no problem with us loaning players as long as it is supplemented by other business.
