RLC would probably be £60mil, thats what makes it extremely unlikely...but, is he worth the fee? It depends on whether Silva wants an English long term quality player in a box to box role...

De Ligt + Holgate in a 2 would be good on paper.. both very good all round players...Jagielka mentoring them. However i wonder if we would be brave enough to go with starting two young centre backs?

Yeah with Brands we could find that he goes directly to South America...snag is that the best u21 players like lozano and Richarlison are going to be quite well known (like Lautaro Martinez signing for Inter)...plus we have work permit issues like with Onyekuru.

Pienaar had a buy clause in his deal, as did Yobo before him...i disagree that Rashford or similar would stay if they played well for us...

Lukaku was the exception...not the rule.

I think 60 million would be paying a huge premium and a big gamble mate. Is he more advanced than Fakir for example? I'm not so sure. I'd be very cautious spending that sort of money, when you look at his numbers I'm not sure he justifies it.

I think in the short term it would be one or the other, which would be good. We have to hope Keane comes good next season. As with most players they don't become poor players after 1 season. I don' think he's suited to Silva though.

Thats true, and maybe it is. However would you not take Dembele/Rashford on season long loans and take the chance? I think RAshford may stay too, United would fill his position and people tend to fall in love with Everton when they do well here. If the don't, you try again the season after. The top teams buy young players and a section don't work out. I have no issue with us putting ourselves in prime position to get them back on track. Ideally you get a buy figure at the end though!

I think with RLC youre not only buying the player, youre getting the nationality which forms part of the local club culture and of course if he forces his way in as 1st choice in England centre midfield you also increase club visability too.

Pickford + RLC as England internationals would boost the standing of the club especially to young players wanting to play with them.

Holgate / Connolly / Kenny / Dowell / Davies / Lookman / DCL all in the squad too and one or two of them may be capped next season with Southgate in charge...

I always believe we need a young English international core sprinkled with foreign stars.

Wouldnt loan anyone without a buy clause...

Mbappe?

AM? No...hes best as a CM or DM.

He was class at inter...wonder where he'll end up?

He was both deep and CM for Inter...switched between those 2 positions and AM...always best in the deep role or CM.

He played AM a lot for Inter and Croatia, and yeh, never impressed.

Once moved deeper, in a more 'permanent' sense (Madrid play with a diamond or 4-3-3) he's looked a lot better.

Great post mate.

I think people get on board if the can see a clear policy that is applied consistently and communicated. We have had none of those things over the last 2 and arguably over the last 20. As long as the message is consistently applied I think more people will get on board than we suspect.

If we don't communicate properly though, and allow others both within and outside of the club to set the agenda frustration will build.
Communication and transparency are crucial in going forward.

Even the tinfoil hat brigade on here, must be able to see, that after the unholy mess that Koeman and Walsh left behind, there`s a massive amount to be undone, as well as done. This will probably take at least 3 windows, bare minimum.

This needs to be communicated at every step along the way, so the fans can understand and feel part of the rebuilding process.

Only time will tell mate.

The problem for me, is we were meant to be on a rebuild process when they arrived. I think we are still at stage 1 of a 3 year rebuild for me. All we have had, is certain young players have been given some exposure which is a positive.

And that will become much easier once wayne and one or 2 others are off out wage bill.

Indeed, if they are young and talented enough for first team contracts then there won’t be any problems acquiring WP.

My memory is a little fuzzy as read about WP a few weeks ago. The positives around it are that there’s room to manoeuvre and contest the decision.
