I don't think he ever kicked on at Inter and I was surprised when Madrid signed him, in all honesty. Thought he flattered to deceive and wasn't suited for an attacking midfield role.

However, in the last 18 months he's really found his form and - I think - his position. Great player.

AM? No...hes best as a CM or DM.

Nah his last Inter season he was very good. He might have won CL's at Real Madrid but now he's maybe realising it was a silly move at his age since he's played about 10 games in 3 years.

He was class at inter...wonder where he'll end up?

I always thought he was poor mate. Lacked any end product for a player playing the 10 role. If you'd have asked me to pick him or Barkley 3 years ago I'd have picked Ross any day.

I don't think the move was bad as playing with the likes of Kroos and Modric has certainly improved his game. When he has played in the last season and-a-half, he has been excellent. Great on the ball, driving forward from deep.

As I said, really think he's settled into that deeper role rather than the 10 he was used in by Inter, albeit Inter were pretty gash at that time.

He was both deep and CM for Inter...switched between those 2 positions and AM...always best in the deep role or CM.

Yep, Elstone projected it in January which is why ive been maintainig we are not as well as off as some presume. Very little cashflow in the business.

I honestly had the wages at around 120m, which wasnt terminal, but 140m, plus all the compo, yeah we are proper, proper skint.

But thankfully, its not all lost, 1 window of prudence, shed the wage bill and go again next summer is still possible, but Brands is gonna have to work for his money like nobody has ever worked in football.

I think we are in for "sensible" signings for the forseeable. At that will be a good thing.

Hoping for the Dortmund / RB Leipzeig model of younger signings.

Absolute financial suicide to be buying the 27+ year olds at peak value on long contracts.

Walcott/Bolasie/Sigurdsson represent about £200m in fees and wages over 4 years with nothing recouped.

If I was Everton I would honestly sue Steve Walsh and Koeman, quite possibly the biggest frauds in modern football.

Seems to be common in football though, saw this morning that (until our summer spree) Palace and Southampton had higher wage bills than us and Swansea were within a few million.

Who do they even have in their squads who are worth that type of wage?!

I hope so too mate. Eindhoven had a very similar model under Brands as did Alkmaar.

People have to accept though, that may take a bit of time to get started, will not provide instant results and may mean the first window is underwhelming. It's certainly not about solving all the problems in 1 window by bringing in proven players in every position.

People wont accept that tho sadly.
