Sell to buy isnt a thing. What you’re describing is player trading which every single club in the world does. Are we selling Pickford Walcott Tosun Gueye or Coleman? Doesn’t look like it, which means we are selling players we don’t need, like every other club tries to do. What do people want? Keep all the bad players and buy even more players? People just love the ‘sell to buy’ stick to needlessly bash Everton with.

The most sensible post I’ve read on here for ages!

I think Koeman pinned all his hopes on Giroud and chased him until it was too late to get anybody else signed. I am not sure there even was a plan B.If Giroud had signed maybe the season would have been different and if it had then the signing would not have seemed as poor ... maybe.
We have seen with other clubs before that having money to spend is no recipe for success. It is very difficult to get it right as we have found to our cost.

Would have helped, rather than just bringing in Sandro. Doesn't solve the mess we made with the Keane, Klaassen, to a certain extent Sigurdsson signings however.

Sell to buy certainly is a thing. It remains to be seen whether that's the approach we're taking (personally I doubt it) but it's pointless saying it's not a thing because it's totally different to player trading.

Player trading, as you rightly said, is what all teams do. It's buying player A, B and C, and selling player X, Y and Z. That's standard, and nobody has an issue with it. Sell to buy is when you can't buy A, B or C unless you sell X, Y and Z. There's a big difference. It also means if you don't get willing buyers for X or Y, you might have to sell player D and E.

As I said, I don't think we'll be following a sell to buy model, but I can understand why people are concerned when those words are used.

just get on with it...

whatever way we are doing it then we ned action.

ship the shabite out , the sooner the better...

and buy in the 2 or 3 players we desperately need.

THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE

I’ve heard of Monchi and Rangnick, actually. Doesn’t say a lot for Brands, though, does it?

Who is regarding him as a Top 10 DoF? Please back-up that claim.

I’ve made it up, have I?

Brands replied: “No. First of all we need to offload players to raise money [to spend], and also salary-wise.

Biggest spenders 2017/18 - Manchester City

THAT is success, not finishing 6th, or whatever other way you’re going to try and spin success for Everton.

PSG had net spend of £130m last season and got no further in the Champion's league than the season before. Chelsea's net spend of £52m saw them drop to fifth.
Liverpool had negative net spend last season and got top 4. Spurs net spend only £16m and also finished top 4.

Every team who isn't a European giant sells players who aren't going to play. We do it, Chelsea do it, Liverpool do it, Juventus do it, everyone does it.

..but City’s success wasn’t instant in their ‘rich era’. There were plenty of seasons they spent big and didn’t win. They have failed to make a positive impact on Europe. Spending big helps but it’s not the only defining ingredient.
