Mate those lads will be underwhelming (Mata aside).

Rashford, Ienaacho, Lacazette, Martial would be far better. That's just off the top of my head.
Ienaacho may actually work he is a goal machine granted lukaku makes half his the goals he scores on his own but hopefully he be playing in a better team than rom.

we need to spend double what we get for Rom, his fee should be used on his replacements (two strikers)

the rest should go towards the back line and keeper

I agree, but not if Celtic want 50 million.

I am afraid we are not in quite the same position of strength as we were with Stones due to Rom only having 2 years left. If we get 65 for Rom and get can get Dembele and iheanacho with that money we could end up in a stronger position. Obviously Dembele is not proven in atop league so represents a gamble

Lukaku replacement? If needed could be Batshuayi and he could be cheap if Lukaku goes to Chelsea. Or Lacazette. Then replace Kone with Rooney and replace Valencia with a player like Iheanacho, Dembele, Dolberg or Martial.

Batshuayi, Rooney, Dembele, Lookman could be a decent attack. Then buy Gylfi and sort out the defence and we are good enough to challenge.

Out

Lukaku: £70 million
Niasse: £8 million
Deulofeu: £7 million
Cleverly: £8 million
McCarthy: £15 million

Total: £108 million

In:

Austin: £25 million
Dembele/Dolberg: £25 million
Keane: £20 million
Van Dijk: £40 million
Leno: £20 million

£130 million Total

Leno

Keane Van Dijk Williams

Coleman Schneiderlein Gueye Baines

Barkley

Austin Dembele/Dolberg

A stronger side for only a marginal net spend. Rom leaving isn't a disaster providing we spend wisely.

Austin? As in Charlie bloody Austin? For 25m???? He's 12m tops and we should be looking at players a couple grades above that.

Stronger in defence yeah

The same Charlie Austin who netted 18 goals for QPR in the Prem then netted around 10 for southampton this season and would probably be on about 15 had he not been out injured the past 2 months?

Koeman signed him for Southampton and he's a proven scorer in the prem- something we will need unless you want us to spunk all the money on a bunch of Markovic's and Origi's in the hopes of 1 actually proving half decent.

Batshuyai is a quality player but doubt Koeman will look at him. We'll be downgrading from Rom regardless as we can't attract CL quality strikers otherwise Rom wouldn't be looking to leave.

Guaranteed he would blow both knees out on his walk to the press conference after signing the contract. Not to mention the fact that he is absolutely not good enough to help us where we want to go.

But who is good enough for that? Only obvious one is Lacazette and he'll probably want what Rom wants.

It's not so simple to sign a world class forward otherwise Chelsea and Utd wouldn't be looking to spend a kings ransom to sign Rom from us.

Fact of the matter is We have 2 options-

1. Sign a proven prem player ie. Austin/Giroud/Benteke which Koeman has done this season (Schneiderlein/Bolasie/Williams) and claw back as many of the goals we'll miss from Rom as possible or:

2. Sign an unknown that could turn out a bargain and be another Rom/Suarez but also more likely to be a Janssen/Origi/Igahlo etc. These have the potential to be higher rewards but are more likely to flop. Your Batshuyais/Dolbergs/Dembeles fall under this category.

My hope is we sign 1 from both categories so we have atleast 1 proven goalscorer at the club but also a gamble signing that may turn out top quality.

The problem is you'll have our fans wanting us to do a RS and spend all the Lukaku money on unknown signings hoping all pay off which is very risky- because Austin isn't a big name and Benteke is ex RS and Giroud doesn't run around and has poncy hair.

My ideas on the replacement would be Andre Silva, Inaki Williams in a rotating 3, Paco Alcacer on loan with other big additions, Kevin Volland (would best fit the extreme pressing mentality), Jovetic (was never able to prove himself here but is a good player), Lacazette (really won't command or demand what Rom wants but that's pure opinion), if Inter fall away towards the end of the season Icardi but that's a long shot. All I could think of off top.

Personally I'd be very happy to see us replace Rom with Rondon, I think he's a real quality player in a similar mould to Lukaku. You'd want someone younger too though who can challenge for that spot, and god knows who that could be given that Rondon would be hugely overpriced, you're looking 40m minimum given how vital he is to Pulis' side.
