How can it not reflect the quality of the leagues when the coefficient is based on qualification and advancement in EUEFA's two tournaments? If the three usual suspects of the Dutch league are usually in there, they are in there because they are the cream of Dutch football. It means the rest are continually poor.

Its simple. Like you don't care about the Europa league. Generally people don't care about silly rankings. Based on the quality of players in certain leagues and how they can attract players and how much talent they ship out to bigger clubs generally defines league quality for normal people. Also general popularity has to do with it.

UEFA rankings are clearly lob sided and only used for hashing out positions in the European competition.

There's more parameters to the quality of a league competition than a simple coefficient table for European places. Many factors make up how good a league is.

What factors are more important than a league's UEFA coefficients for you?

What is you alternative way of measuring league strength?

We should totally swerve Ajax players. Proven record of never being able to make the step up out of a crap league.

Johan Cruyff
Dennis Bergkamp
Luis Suarez
Marco Van Basten
Edgar Davids
Zlatan Ibrahimovich
Wesley Sneijder
Marc Overmars
Ronald Koeman
Christian Eriksen
Patrick Kluivert
Michael Laudrup
Frank Rijkaard
4 in the last 10 years.

a team from Cyprus could finish 2nd and be in the Champions league final, like Leicester won the PL, would you then think the Cypriot league is the go-to league for new signings? Think not.. You're disappointing me.

Not according to UEFA.

Are you seriously suggesting, for example, that the Turkish league and Portuguese leagues are inferior?

I think you are right Dave in that it's not a top league, Kurt scored a lot of goals last season for example. However I think you have to look at the profile of the league too? It's mainly made up of lads up to the age of 22. So maybe it's not so much a poor league but a league for younger players. If you haven't been sold by 21-22 then there should be some question marks (and yes they do exist for Klaasen even at 24! ;) ).

I'm not entirely sure on Dolberg. Ajax players seem to go either way, Vertongen, Alderweireld, Eriksen on the one hand with Fischer, Anderson etc on the other. I worry about lack of pace. I'd rather have Dembele who has the physicality for the league, or Abrahams/Iheanacho.

The UEFA Coefficient is not about league strength. Its about European competition strength.

Points are only awarded to the teams that qualify and play in the European competition and then how far they progress etc...

The top 4 will never change drastically due to how many teams qualify for both competitions and on average how far they go.

So if you have a league that only gets two entrants per competition they will forever be lower. You cannot base an entire countries league based on two or three teams playing in Europe. That's mental. The same 6 teams in England generally always qualify for both competitions so are you saying its a better league simply because of that?

Thus like i said unbalanced table.

Leagues should be based on many factors

- Quality of teams
- League popularity
- Talent they are able to acquire
- The amount of talent that they produce consistently
- Showing in Europe
- Recognition
