Summer Transfer Window 2017

There's been some decent players coming out of the SPL recently to be fair

Van Dijk, Forster, Wanyama and I reckon both Dembele and Tierney will be good at PL Level as well

It's about doing your research at the end of the day. The players are few and far between, but they are there

I know nothing about the Dutch League, but if a scout has been doing extensive research then he/she might have seen what people like you and me saw in Virgil before he made the journey south

Picking out less hyped players who end up being really good is one of the reasons why Walsh is here

Any good ones that don't play for Celtic?

Yeah, there's good players, but ones who'd walk straight into a Premier League side? That I'm not so sure about

Celtic tend to stockpile those types of player

For a while Dundee United looked like they were developing some good players, but then Celtic raided them and they're now in the second tier

Fair enough. Obviously you know your Scottish footy, but it's important to be aware of the limitations of that league too of course.

There's good players in a lot of leagues. Heck we were linked with some lad in the Cypriot league just the last window (probs a good thing we didn't get him let's be honest).

Just let the scouts do their work. They know more they see more. It doesn't matter where the players come from as long as they are going to make Everton better.

It's only when one of those players steps up against CL opposition that we have an inkling they will be ok here in the PL too.

It's a pig in a poke exercise buying straight form Holland.

Buying an out and out goalscorer i would agree with it, the defences are a joke there and even an average prem striker would bag an absolute shedload, need to look at the creative types as they seem to have a much greater success rate - the likes of Eriksen etc, or ones with more to there game than outright goalscoring (for me Dolberg seems to fall into that second catagory - ,can score but it's his genral link up and skill on the ball that marks him out amongst the rest)

League wise i dunno if there is a reliable one to buy from though anymore mate, Italy seems awash with utter dirge these days, Spain - a huge amount of there players ahve a mare adjusting, Holland, France etc - substandard leagues that it's easy to look boss in when just a decent player, as for the other leagues like Russia, Belgium etc, christ its a true pig in a poke buying from there

The "creative types" are exactly the type I don't see Koeman being interested in. He won sign a playmaker while he's here. I feel confident in that...no matter which league they come from.

In both cases they proved themselves over here first.

Proved them self over here? Where? The SPL?

Let me get this straight... you said we shouldn't be signing players from the Dutch league because it's crap and " on par with the SPL"?

You then say that those players proved themselves "over here" as in the SPL? As in the same SPL that is on par with the Dutch league? As in the league that we shouldn't be signing players from? If the leagues are of the same standard ... how did they "prove themselves"?

So basically signing them from the Dutch league is the same as signing from the SPL...

Talking rubbish again Dave?

Depends mate, Tadic - Saints most creative player was signed by him and from Holland as well.

Will he sign a conventional number 10 type - i seriously doubt it, it doesn't suit the system he tends to play which is a more creative type wider (Mata was used that way at Valencia as a youngster by him as well), plus the fact he has Barkley already here and who seems to have finally had the penny drop on just what a dominant player he has the ability to become.

I'm honestly more interested to see him revamp the defence during the summer than anything else really, arguably need 3 players incoming in there and quality ones at that.
