Summer Transfer Window 2017

Swansea allegedly turned down a £30m bid from China in the last few days. IF that's true then I doubt we can get him in the summer. If they stay up, they keep him; if they go down presumably the Chinese teams will be back in for him, so the fee will likely get very silly very quickly. I rate Gylfi very highly and have often said he's a player I would like to see us pursue... but only up to a point. If the fee is crazy, you have to say no.

Presumably the player has some voice in this matter as well?

Oh that Andy Robertson. I thought you meant one still hanging about up there!

Yeah he came from that Dundee United vintage about the time of Johnny Russell and the like.

I do like that Robertson, but honestly think we could do better than him now.
Who would your preference be Ijjy. I also like the Swiss lad at Wolfsburg. Really impressed me in the 4v1 win at home.

The Summer transfer window will be notable for the fact that, as well as Cleverley and Niasse jogging on, we will also lose Lennon, Deulofeu, Jagielka, Rodriguez, Garbutt, McAleny, McGeady, Galloway, Kone and Valencia.

We will only sign two or three senior players and so will go into next season with something like 16 to 18 senior ( 22 or over ) pros and finally destroy the myth that Koeman doesn't give youth a chance.

Oh, and @chicoazul's loan deal to EvertonArentWe will be made permanent.

Operation Deadwood!

Back on topic, looking forward to EFC summer business

Difficult mate. I don't watch as much footy as I used to so can't say any really stand out. I thought that Chilwell looked like Baines when we played them, but he's gone off the boil apparently.

Rodriguez is the chap at Wolfsburg and yes he's more the type i'd like. But I don't see him every week so couldn't tell you how good he is week in week out. At only 24 though I'd probably risk it. He'd be pricey though.

I think he'd be expensive too but not sure of his form this year either as you say. Wolfsburg certainly aren't doing very well. Plus he wouldn't come as back up to Baines, so you'd have to accept his days were numbered.

That's why I'd go for a younger player coming through who would be a better fit for the WB role, but be back up to Baines when we play a back four. Robertson fits that bill for me. Stands out in a poor premier team and has a great left peg on him. Only 22 and as long as he got plenty of playing time, which I think he would as Baines ages, I think he would be ideal. There's not that many to pick from to be honest. I don't see a European football scene littered with great full backs.

Tierney at Celtic i've been massively impressed with but we're talking +£20m for him. With him being only 19 i believe it could turn out a brilliant investment nontheless
Not seen that much of him tbh mate. Obv the standard in SPL is not that great, but VVD made the step up so I'm not going to pre judge. £20m is a lot for an unproven 19 yo defender from Scotland though.
