We have the first four. We should add one more and then hope a kid comes through so we have 2 players for each position.
We're nowhere near being a club that can have massive strength in depth all over the team so hoarding 5 players for two positions looks like overkill and a poor use of resources. If we're serious about going after all the competitions we'll be in next season then we will need two players for every position. If we play three across the middle of the park that would be Gana, Schneiderlin, Davies, Klaassen, Barry, Besic (will he ever be fit?), McCarthy (will probably be sold), Barkley could maybe play there but it's not his best position (and he will likely be sold in any case). That's five players for three positions and whilst there may be another coming in I don't think we are even close to the situation Spurs were in a couple of years back.
Dave. I don't think he will, or maybe even close. No more than Costa did.In this PL madhouse? Defo. He'll get 30 odd goals at Chelsea.
Only for elite CL squads would you get away with manager's hoarding players like that...clubs that are looking at 50 odd games per season and seriously in the hunt for three or four trophies. That's not us.Disagree on here with you buddy.
Starting midfield 3 of Schneids, Gueye & Klassen
You then have back up for all 3 in Barry, Besic & Davies respectfully.
McCarthy is out the door i think, Barry is probably on his last season and Besic can't be relied on.
My personal preference would be to also bin Barry and Besic off and maybe get Dendonker as backup to Morgs in or move Walsh & Williams into that back up section, but thats just my personal preference.
Davies is 3rd/4th choice in a 3 man midfield, he will be fine
With better players around him here this season he'd have got 30 goals.Dave. I don't think he will, or maybe even close. No more than Costa did.
I think his role at Chelsea will be totally different where he plays for the team rather than the team playing for him.
That doesn't mean that he will have a bad season, quite the opposite.
However, I think that is the challenge he faces. He wants to be the goalscorer rather than the goalmaker and will have to adapt his game quite a bit.
It is a big challenge for Chelsea to repeat the title win of last season anyway and Lukaku needs to keep the fans onside.
A few of his lazy disinterested performances , after costing a huge fee, could easily turn fans against him.
I think he faces a different challenge to what many expect , but that is what a 90m player must cope with.
Think we all need to wait till the end of the window, and see where we are regarding the squad, than jumping to conclusions. We're nowhere near being a club that can have massive strength in depth all over the team so hoarding 5 players for two positions looks like overkill and a poor use of resources.
I believe we'll struggle upfront this coming season, not just because we'll be Lukaku-less but because Koeman doesn't seem to be able to land an out and out forward who leads the line - not a decent one anyway.
We need a LB and a CB. It all costs and signing more players for pretty much a couple of positions makes no sense.
He's fixated with CMs. All managers have their fixations in a position, this one is Koeman's.
Elite club squad. We are not elite.United started last season with Herrera, Fellaini, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Pogba plus mikitariyan, Lingaard, Mata, Blind who can all play centre midfield.
They won the league cup & Europa League
Ahh the classic 2323 formation....walter winterbottom would be proud
If you amend that to a back four then I agree

Everton not looking at Marcelo Brozovic despite reports
Everton are not currently interested in Marcelo Brozovic.
Reports from Italy had claimed the Blues were one of a clutch of clubs keen on the Inter Milan midfielder.
But the ECHO has been told that Everton are, at this stage, not in the running for the 24-year-old.
Schneiderlin/Klaassen/Davies/Gueye. That is quite enough to hold that position all season with enough quality. We can draft in from Unsworth's team if need be (assuming Besic isn't fit).Think we all need to wait till the end of the window, and see where we are regarding the squad, than jumping to conclusions.
I'm glad he has fixation with CM's, couldn't think of anything worse than watching barry McCarthy and cleverly again.
It is a back 4, but we will play wing backs instead of full backs, the full backs will provide the width on the flanks with the 2 wingforwards tucking in almost like strikers.

I cant stress enough the chasm that will be left by Lukaku. His departure will take years to recover from. He is an exceptional talent and we'll struggle badly to make that gulf up in terms of class and finishing. Sandro? Hmm. Maybe chip in with 10 or so IMO. Calvert-Lewin is garbage IMO...just not buying that kid at all.
We need a massive statement signing for upfront.
