And so it begins.
I didn't want him to begin with mate. I think his opposite number there last night should go for £60M if Pickford is £30M.

Utter madness spending that kind of cash on him.

Anyway, we'll see whether a GK used to doing a lot in a match can make the grade to a team where he wont be called on too much but when he is it's crucial he focusses on it.

This will be a massive step up in status and pressure. He'll sink or swim.

Okay so let me get this straight.

Martinez who was in total control of transfers, apparently had nothing to do with niasse signing. So is absolved of blame.

Koeman who works under a dof and as such only has imput on players. Has to take complete blame for all signings under his time as everton manager because thats the way the english game works?

Is that what you're saying? Because I'm a little confused here.
I wont speak further about the Niasse deal. I've made my statement on it, so take it or leave it. Suffice to say it was very strange.

ALL managers must take responsibility on their watch for the squad they assembled. I'd say that about Martinez and some of the dross he signed too.

No hiding place for Koeman. He's not going to hide behind Walsh's coat tails to avoid judgement.

You'd better let the best goalkeeper we've ever had know that you think he's gash mate, as he was the big lads first choice when asked who we should bring in months ago. But I'm sure he'll bow down to your superior knowledge of the art of goalkeeping.
I dont care what Southall said about Pickford or what any other former Everton player said about any current player. I'll make my own mind up.

Hello mate it seems you are fairly new to GOT or might not be I don't know but DaveK is the resident WUM and your his afternoon bite.

Just hit the ignore button otherwise you will be talking to someone thinking-irrationally for the rest of the afternoon

hahahaha, so you wouldn't concede that the Worlds best keeper in his pomp might just have a better eye for what constitutes a good keeper than you like?

It sounds like you've already made your mind up btw.

Aye.

The boss is the one that gets the boot if results are not up to par.

100% the boss's fault if the side play rubbish.

Isnt it?

My final position on Martinez was that he couldn't control those players so he had to leave. So I have no problem in accepting both sides of that coin. There's more to it than that, obviously, but that is the basic and fundamental truth of the matter: you sit in the hot seat - you own what happens at the club.

No. I wouldn't.

Ex players are not the font of all wisdom on football matters. If they were they'd all make good managers, and hardly any of them ever do.

I dont care what the process is: the buck stops always with the manager.

Steve Walsh is not going to be a cloak for Koeman to hide his poor signings behind.
The only reason you "don't care" is because it contradicts your steadfast hate for anything Koeman does. The process is the process whether you care or not.

When Lookman came in, Koeman said he was one for the future. A few weeks later he was in the first team. Does that sound like a Koeman signing, or him using someone that was brought into by someone handling recruitment duties, ie Walsh.

ALENA SIGNS BARCA DEAL

Barcelona have handed teenage midfielder Carles Alena a new three-year contract.

The 19-year-old's deal includes an automatic two-year extension based on first-team appearances.

Spanish youth international Alena scored on his debut against Hercules in the Copa del Rey last season and made three substitute appearances in LaLiga towards the end of the campaign.
