Rooney/Sigurdsson/Giroud...

...that has a jaded and irrational feel to it, tbh.

Sign one and it's a good addition to the squad. Sign two or three and the dynamic changes.

We dont need Rooney; he's got no pace left and we cant play him further back as we are well catered for in CM.
Sigurdsson is a player I admire, but maybe alongside a different forward than Giroud.
Giroud would be a great stand alone purchase if we got a quality crosser of the ball in out wide.

Having them all together would be off the charts ridiculous. They'd all want starting places, and anyone with a passing knowledge of the game and with the ability to project ahead can see how it doesn't fit together.

we'll have the slowest attack in the history of the premier league ffs

Just, in theory, if we did get them all.

We should (and will be) aiming for a 50-60 game season this campaign Dave.

So, there's your 'starting places'.

Rotation. We're going to need it.

Our issues in the past have stemmed from having a good first XI, but not much in reserve. We're building a squad. A squad that has the potential to grow, but also one that has enough quality in the here and now to be competitive.

Surely that's a good thing...

Agree with that, when Lukaku goes Sandro is the only starting forward/attacking midfielder with any pace to run in behind. We need more than that.

I'm in two minds about all of these players TBH for various reasons, none of them are young i.e. they are not going to improve, their value will only go down and they're all slow.

On the other hand they all have experience, Rooney has a winning mentality, Giroud and Gyfi have good scoring records, they all have quality on the ball and the ability to create for others.

Rooney could be a game changer for us if his legs haven't gone.

We all know the effect Reid and Gray had in the 80s and there have been other washed up former greats who have kick started teams to glory, e.g. Pirlo at Juve, Dave Mackay at Derby etc.

But you don't need 'quick' players to play with pace.

It's all about moving the ball well and swiftly.

We've had 'quick' players for the last few years, yet played like slugs at times.

Also, it depends how we'll set up.

you have to be on the wind up

Sound fair, but who would you like instead? To me those three names are very interesting, but i would like to hear your favorit signings also.

I'm telling you now, Rooney works hard, his problem at United was being played too far back which led to him running back to win the ball so he seemed useless! Play him up top with our high pressing midfield and he has no reason to run back, more time to use his genius to get into brilliant positions and lets be honest, we all know he can strike the ball from practically anywhere and score... Oh and last but not least, his free kicks aren't half bad too.

Sigurdsson is perfect for giroud. Last year he played verry well with Llorente and Giroud is an upgrade on Llorente.

Sigurdsson and Giroud could work, similarly to Sigurdsson and Llorente at Swansea.

I don't see Giroud and Rooney working well whatsoever. Rooney and Ibrahomic showed how 2 players with zero pace didn't work.
That's true.

That's part of my reservations too. As said, it'd look jaded.

Think back to when we had Lukaku/Mirallas/Barkley/Deulofeu counter attacking three seasons ago and it'd be a backward step to that.

They'd all demand PL game starts.

I just dont see how Rooney fits in at all, tbh.

Siggy and Rooney are both quality crossers of the ball

I've said: Sigurdsson or Giroud would do. I just fear that lack of explosive pace in this team, because it looks like a slower Klaassen is taking Barkley's place also.
