Summer Transfer Window 2017

This is how I feel. Can't get excited about buying 31 year old rejects from teams we should be competing with.

...but it's about building a team, not necessarilly putting 11 superstars on the pitch. Remember Paul Power coming in and possibly being player of the season when we won the league in '87. Just because Rooney is surplus at United doesn't mean he can't do a job for one of their rivals. Ultimately, RK will be judged by this squad of players he's assembling.

Giroud would get us 20 goals in the league next season. No worries about that.

Getting dembele or dolberg in would not guarantee that. Dembele and dolberg scored for fun in below average leagues. Giroud is proven and his bird is most probably fit.
Why would somebody who has never even got close to 20 PL goals in a season suddenly be guaranteed to get that amount when moving to a team with less quality at the age of 31?

I'm not averse to the idea of getting Giroud and think he'd do well for us but I think some people are making out like he's much better than he actually is.

With Rom on the way out & Rooney on the way in, are we still in for Siguardsson? He seems to occupy the same space as Rooney does these days. Surely a direct out-and-out striker now become more of a priority?

I don't think his age would stop him scoring 20 goals. Maybe the word guarantee is abit far fetched from me. What I was supposed to be mean was he is much less of a risk. I don't think he's a wo lad beater but if he started 38 games for us next season then I would like to think he would get 20 league goals.

So right now with Lukaku gone we have no strikers or anybody who can get even 10 goals a season. We have to hope Sandro settles quickly and is a success, but Rooney is no replacement and that means big money will need to be spent on making up those 25-odd goals that are now missing!

Right now Lukaku still plays for us.

If/when Lukaku goes, Ronald Koeman (who knows a thing or two about this game) will realise that Everton need to replace the 25 goals a season that Lukaku would have given us and will look for suitable replacements. It's the 6th July with the transfer window open until the end of August. We got £127m from TV money and will be getting £75m+ for a player who wants to leave the club.

People are placing so much emphasis on the 25 goals as if we can't replace that from 2 or 3 players. Say we got Giroud, it's not too far fetched to expect 15 minimum from Giroud and 10 from Sandro. If we got Rooney, Sandro and someone else you could get the 25 from 5, 10 and 10. Not to mention that the way we play as a team might be far better as we won't rely on Lukaku up front on his own. How far did it get us having 25 goal a season Lukaku up front on his own away to the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United? He scored a penalty in the Arsenal game and did very little in those other games because he was isolated. We are now adding depth to the squad which could see us stand a chance in those games and could see us approach these games in a far more effective way with players like Klaasen supporting whoever we have up front.

Stop panicking and wait and see what happens over the next 2 months. There is a long long way to go before all the transfer business is over.

Have to say.. I would happily take Rooney or Giroud, but not both! We need someone who is younger and has still has room to improve their game. At the moment, one of them wants to come to us and would be essentially free; the other would cost £20m and doesn't seem too keen on joining. Wages would be roughly the same. I know which one I would take.
