I have to disagree with that

Heaton is first team quality for a top side, Robles is back up at best

Disagree here Mikey.
Robles is a very good and solid keeper!
If we were to go out and replace him it needs to be a keeper that will be a significant upgrade and win you points on his own.
Heaton is doing that at the moment for Burnley as he is constantly in the action- think Marshall at Cardiff 2-3 years ago.
Being a keeper who is called upon when not having much to do for long periods of the game is something different (Mignolet at liverpool a great example of that).
We need to be looking at what spurs did when they swapped Brad Friedel for Lloris, at the time Friedel was dependable and seen as one of the better keepers in the league, they then went and got Lloris even though there keeper position was not an issue because he was Lloris and one of the best around

What will Tierney do in the 2/3 years he is waiting for Baines to retire?

He could Take baines starting position next year. Baines has been an excellent player and is on a good current run of form but hasnt been pushed in the slighest for his place. Tierney is well capable of pushing him if he maintains his progress.

Personally, I think he'd get plenty of minutes if he stayed here, especially if we're lucky enough to be in Europe and are fighting on four fronts

And if not, we could always agree to loan him back to Celtic for a season if he doesn't go straight into the first team

True, i do agree with you that he will be a great replacement long term for baines.
I just think he is to good to come in and be somebody's understudy, but baines is still baines and been excellent on this run of unbeaten games, and the majority of the season actually.

Its what sort of damaged Garbutt, waiting around to long to get a chance and is now either under developed or in interested.

Personally i think the RS should of thrown 20million at Celtic and that would of solved there left back problem

Baines has not been pushed for his place in pretty much 6-8 years and in that time he was probably one of the best left backs in europe.
i dont think leighton is the type to not perform to his best ability for us just because he is guaranteed a place.

As the banner said last season "Baines is one of us"
