I personally would forget Siggurdson and Giroud and look to bring in Mahrez, William Jose, Tierney and possibly another CB. Line up like the below.

IMO as much as it would be nice to have another CB it's not really vital at the moment, we have Keane, Williams, jags and Holgate also Mori when fit. So I can't really see Koeman being to bothered about another CB.

None are good enough to get us into the top 4 imo. We need another left sided CB to partner Keane ideally.

If we're content with just getting closing the gap on the six teams above us this season, then I agree the existing group of players will suffice.

By all accounts Diego Costa wants to go back to Athletico - obviously they have a transfer ban. How about a cheeky loan bid until January?

Very good player no doubt, but what would that do to squad moral. We're building for the future mate and bringing in somebody short term would be sending the wrong message to our other players imo.

You have no idea which players we have or havent approached.

Not every approach from clubs is highlighted in the press, we have spoken to most of the Agents in the game in the last few months and we will have an idea of who is and isnt interested.

According to the media United have spent all Summer trying to sign Perisic and the vermin across the park VVD.

Its really cool to slate Ashley Williams and claim Baines is finished, the reality is that both are good players and will do us in good stead the next season, sure we could do with a few more players in certain areas, but we havent finished our business this window, lets see what the squad looks like at the end of the window before we settle for 7th again yeah.

I was the biggest Baines fan ever but It's hard to ignore how his output has dipped quite drastically in every department.

I actually think he's become more defensively sound, which is probably a direct result of him not getting forward so often. He clearly isn't the attacking force he used to be at his best, but his distribution is still excellent. If we can find the right player to partner him on that left hand side he could still have a big impact offensively. Let's be honest, he's always been about guile rather than raw power/speed.

Could Gylfi be that partner for him.?

We still need decent cover for him though as you he will pick up niggles and you can't expect someone his age to play every game. Robertson for £8m would have been good business in that regard, although I don't think he'd be the player to ultimately take his place.

Did you watch the game on Thursday? His passing was awful, and his reluctance to get forward and cross is baffling. He is still living off the notion that he was a free kick expert, his last, being West Ham away, Roms Debut.

FFS. First run out of pre season and you're writing him off already. The older you get the longer it takes to get the sharpness back.

Exactly. That's my point. We're talking of bringing in a player (presumably for the first team squad) who appears very similar and is 6 months younger, than somebody we thought necessary to send on loan for a season.
