I mentioned in a thread some time ago that I thought RK would keep Jagielka for another season.
If we qualify for the Europa league we will be playing on a Thursday and a Sunday. We will need a far bigger squad than we currently have, Jagielka and Barry bring loads of experience and can certainly contribute if not expected to play every week.
Keeping Jagielka and Williams, buying Keane and possibly selling Ramiro Funes with Holgate , Pennington, Galloway and maybe Browning as back up leaves us well covered for central defenders.
It would allow the manager to spend his money in other targeted areas.

I think RK had written off Jagielka , but recent performances since he has come back into the team has changed his mind.
A the same time dropping Funes Mori for Jagielka is ominous for him.
I don't think RK Changes his mind after a couple of good performances. Wouldn't be very confident going into next season with the CB's you have listed.

I think we will need another top class CB, if we are serious about trying for top 4

The thing is Lukaku isn't a Koeman type centre forward and as others have said we play largely to his game.

If we sign someone like Willian Jose then for me he'll revert more to his 4-3-3 next season imo. His Pelle type forward to hold the ball up (Jose) his Tadic type creative player wide left (Sigurdsson?) And then a Mane type pacey forward wide right.

Possibly why Koeman isn't massively concerned if we lose Ross as he may already think Gueye, Schneiderlein and Davies are to be first choice midfield 3.

I'm sure if the big fella is going Koeman will have instructed Walsh to find the next Saidio Mane off the rank.
He will want a big strong hold up player or 2 , plus quick skillful players linking up like Mane .
I'm sure Walsh has got this covered.

28 Mill on someone who has scored about the same amount of goals his whole career as Rom gets in an average season. NO thanks. This is like a Valencia mark two signing. Baffling ..... or just typical Everton?

As much as I want him to stay all our play is dictated by Rom, so maybe if he went and we got 2 different types of strikers it would make us more tactically flexible especially in EL.

Would he be a replacement for Rom or would he be a more flexible type of player that brings in other players around him. Unless we spend all of the Rom money I cannot see us getting a like to like goalscorer so we have to adapt the attack with less selfish players. (Don't mean selfish in a harsh way I mean more sharing). I would also say if it was not just paper talk and he did cost 28m then surely Walsh and Koeman must see something in him that us experts can't
