Improve on finishing 7th in a 6 horse race and going out the cups by 7th of January?

Sorry, that's way too low a bar to set.

£150M spent (or £200M as you suggest)?

Get the job done or get out. Simple as that.

You set your bar, I will set mine, 7th and a decent cup run.

As you said the other day, only clubs who spend money can improve in this league, unless your now saying net spend isnt important?

Im really confused Dave, is it net spend or gross spend?

It would be a humiliation for Koeman staying on in those circumstances and an even bigger one for Moshiri if he allowed it.

This is a big throw of the dice this season.

We finish 6th .....one point off your 5th place requirement. We reach a final and a semi final in the cups and are unlucky not to win one of them.

You are saying staying on given the above would be humiliating to the manager and majority shareholder?

We both know it's not as black and white as that.....the actual context of the season that will be played out will speak quite loudly even if not as loudly as position, points total and proximity to trophy-lifting!

Back to the TOPIC thread, say McCarthy, Niasse, and Barkley go for 60M, let's even say Lennon leaves and that goes up to 65M or even 70M depending on the other deals...

...it's an INSANE amount of turnover, but that probably gets us enough to think about getting a winger (once we've gotten our playmaker, target guy, and center back).

Obviously, we could use some pace...who would you go for?

Bellarabi would be a great pickup, quotes have been around 20-22M. Demari Gray would be a great buy, but not sure how much he'd cost.

I must confess to starting to dislike big Ron. Esteemed GOT member @davek puts forward too many persuasive arguments for removing him that it's hard to see how he can continue in on the management job. I imagine Dave will want Bobby back, but no amount of persuasive argument will have me buying that absurdity.

After having to replace half the squad this summer I think he could be forgiven if they don't click immediately. We need to see clear signs of improvement and I'm sure we will.

The only thing is with that is you can end up making excuses every summer for a manager which can be reasonable but there's got to be an end point. Better to declare what your GETDAHELLOUTMYCLUB breaking point is rather than giving excuses for us possibly being crap or average next season.

Martinez got Lukaku through the door, which in all honesty is still the greatest and most defining achievement of of Everton in the premier league era.

None of the signings that Koeman has got in so far compares to Lukaku in 2014, not even close.

I don't even know where to start with the first statement. We bought a player that Chelsea didn't want who had been on loan with WBA and Everton for previous 2 seasons and you think that's the greatest and most defining achievement of Everton in the premier league era?

You have a very low opinion of this club and it's efforts in the Premier League.

Uh, we came off back to back 47 point seasons and 11th place finishes, and Ronnie got us to 61 points and a 7th place finish. Davek hasn't made a single compelling argument for canning Ronnie, nor does even he objectively think he DESERVES canning at this point.

But the proof is in the pudding. Let's see how the squad does if he gets his guys.

Can't believe we are less than 12 days before the season starts and we've not even replaced Rom

Fixtures are tough as anything at the start and failure to pick up points against the top sides we play in the first five or six games and you can kiss goodbye to top four.

Ahh I understand now... use gross spend to beat the manager and net spend to beat the owner?
tbf, a lot of davek's stuff is utter nonsense but that logic in regards to spending is correct. Net spend could be seen as a measure of Moshiri (for the record, I think he is doing fantastic stuff for the club), Purchases is a measure of what Koeman and Walsh should be judged on.

If guys like Niasse aren't good enough, if Delefeou isn't good enough, if allowing Lukaku to leave, if scaring Barkley to leave, if Lennon is allowed to leave and not be in the first team then damn right Koeman should be judged on his replacements.

Last year he sold Stones who has proven to be a potato and was a liability here, he brought in Bolasie who was quality til' he got injured and he brought in Williams who has been rubbish. He then brought in Lookman (who has made good progress and has supporters buzzing) and Schneiderlin who is one of our most important players already.

What Koeman cannot do is go down the path of AVB and waste what money he has been given (i.e the Bale money), which is why he should be assessed on what he buys with whatever he is given.

Williams was our most consistent defender and the only addition to a team that conceded 11 less than the previous year but ok rubbish
