Summer Transfer Window 2017

I dont think Coutinho will be missed that much, and I'm a big admirer of his play. Lallana was still Liverpool's most innovative player last season and Solanka will slot into a creative role too. The addition of more pace with Salah is also ominous.

I still expect them to bring in a top European slotter.

They'll have less onfield gelling/rebuilding to do this season and look a more settled unit. They should grab another top four spot

Coutinho finding his form again the last 6-7 weeks of the season was the thing that dragged them into the CL mate, it was also the reason early season they steam-rolled over teams as he was playing brilliantly consistently level until the injury, Lallana is great at interplay and getting in and around the box when played deeper (he is utter turd when played wider though), coutinho played centrally or left is the lynchpin to the way they play -especially on the counter and the only player they have who can thread the calibre of balls through to salah and mane which they will need.

Solanka is a kid mate, and a striker not creative at all really.

with anything from 8-12 CL games where they will need to raise their game for - not a chance with the minimal strengthening of the squad they've done that they get top 4 if they lose Coutinho

IF the big teams finally stop playing a high line against them, they will limp home in 7th

Solanke isn't creative at all Dave.

They'll miss Coutinho if Klopp was building his entire team around him. I agree though, if he has a modicum of sense he will just change their style a bit.

We'll see on that.

I'm 99% certain they haven't got the money they think they have. Certainly not enough to spend £150m on two players - even with selling Coutinho - imo.

Aubameyang would be the only one they could reasonably attract though and of course if they did get him it'd be ominous.

Aubameyang would be a utter disaster for them mate, he actually struggled badly and was often played out wide by Klopp - who by accounts the player didn't really like, Tuschelis the one who actually got him playing for Dortmund, much though koppites tend to not realise that fact and credit Klopp with developing him etc;)

As a replacement for Neymar I'd say they'll probably go for Mbappe or Dembele.

But I think they want a replacement for Iniesta as well...

Coutinho played in central midfield like Klopp has done a few times recently (and from played deeper in the14/15 season and looked really good doing so), has possibly given Barca the nod he can be that Iniesta replacement.

Tend to agree, on his day he is magical

Doubt Liverpool will be forced to sell him this summer, they can probably stand firm as Leipzig have done with them, but if Barca have their sights set on him, they've probably only got him for another year (fortunately).

IF Barca do sell Neymar, then they will buy Coutinho mate.

Difference between Leipzig and he rs is simple, Liverpools policy is to buy cheap and sell at their peak for maximum profit mate, IF Barca flush with cash after selling Neymar for 200m come calling - their owners will see it as the perfect scenario to sell

If Liverpool get more for Coutinho, than us for Lukaku I'll actually be fuming.

Also, the transfer window sucks now. Hate these prices flying everywhere it's not even fun

Why can't people grasp the fact that Koeman is looking for a target man
Ina heap or however you spell his name is not a target man hence I doubt very much if we had any interest
It's not rocket science

Is he really though, the position we've needed filling most for 2 years and he still has no one in. It should have been sorted way before now.

Way to miss the point. They'd have taken 4th last August before a ball was kicked, so the end result was fine - BUT, they started like a train and were considered title challengers until they broke at Christmas when the fixture congestion hammered their thin on quality squad. Their first XI on form was as good as anyones at it's peak, but they didn't and still haven't got the level of strength in depth that they're going to need with the addition of CL games this season.

I put up a post a whilst back about Klopps Dortmund record and parallels to Liverpool so far as well mate.

His methods are built to start like a house on fire and pull away from everyone before fatigue sets in - that way you have the momentum of a big lead to carry you over the line, in a 2 horse race like the Bundesliga was - yeah it works cos at worst you have one other team with you then a massive drop off - and he capitalised on a Bayern in a mess when he won the titles their as he pulled away too far for them to claw back the lead, it's also easier in that league to a winter break recharging the team and delaying the attrition on the squad.

BUT a big thing i saw from looking through the Dortmund records was how after a season working under Klopp - a lot of the players started to pick up at an ever increasing rate - injuries, like an absolutely ridiculous total for a large amount of them, and the longer they had been working under Klopp - the worse the injuries frequencies became and the severity increased also.

Basically a sign he breaks players down FAST with the intensity of training and play.

Sturridge basically totally broken now, Henderson went as well last season, you now have Clyne and Milner both with pre season injuries already, another season working under Klopp and throw in a harder season with another 8-12 games they have to fit in, they are gonna be decimated much like his last season at Dortmund turned out, when his squad basically physically broke down with the sheer number ofinjuries they had throughout.
