I agree with you about the defence. The issue is scoring goals. United had a great defence last year.. quite a few draws though as well. Basic maths proves that draws don't really do teams any good over the course of the season. I don't think people are displeased we have a solid defence, they're just worried we won't score enough.

I can already anticipate a potential comeback- 1-0 gets us three points. Of course it does. But with the way our attack and formation are currently shaping up we have a pretty equal chance of drawing games 0-0 as much as we do winning them 1-0. Again, how many draws did united have last year? They don't do you any good. Hence why they went out and bought a proven premier league goal scorer. What was his name again?

And you know who's higher in the table than both of us? Huddersfield. Are they going to finish higher than both us and them? They won 3-0 and looked far more potent than we did. Are they title contenders now?

If I am not mistaken there are zero solid and credible links to any striker apart from the chase in vain of Le Beard. No? @Connor @BlueToff

It seems Kalinic is the only one we are being linked with at the moment, but he looks like he will be on his way to Milan

Of players that have been linked this summer we have:
Giroud - Staying at Arsenal
Benteke - Seems Palace wont even entertain a bid
Dembele - talks early on in the summer of "sighting" at FF, linked with all sorts of moves but all gone quiet, guess he will have another year at Celtic
Kalinic - If its between us and Milan, anyone will chose Milan
Jorgensen - Was linked briefly, dont know anything about him tbh

Are we down to our 5th/6th option for this summer do you think?

A unit up top....shudder....

I will be counting the long balls made between the end of the transfer window and the day I open my Xmas Presents. If they exceed my made up limit then I will be calling for his head before the Jan window.

The point was though, that all the links apart from Giroud are no different than all the other random generated rubbish all summer. We could be in for a surprise, or as mentioned above a huge disappointment.

Yeah I can see the logic in this too. I've actually suggested doing something similar with Dolberg who's said he wants another season at Ajax. Buy him now and loan him back. If both these players continue to develop, their stock will be so much higher this time next year and their value probably doubled.

Think myself that we'll probably look at Demeble from Celtic if they need to raise funds for Roberts from City. They were apparently only asking 15/20 but I think he's injured ATM and they desperately want to sign Roberts again, City just won't loan him.

He's not a unit but could make sense.

So it's more nuanced. The thing is the asking price for a direct transfer just went up more, after the deadline. A transfer-loan back is much cheaper.

The high asking price for a direct transfer is understandable, would really put Van Holsbeeck in trouble. Anderlecht isn't playing good atm so he's already on the market for a rb (current ones are injured), he wants Ricardo Pereira from Porto. Plus a new striker since they are all misfiring; 47 shots only one goal.
