It's not cheap. Would you rather we hold on to him till 31 August and have no time to spend the money? He moaned at every opportunity he wanted to leave tell me what can we do?

Cheap? At one point it was the world record deal

We have the cash didn't need to sell to buy. Insisted on 100m if selling in prem or sold him abroad (to a non rival team) for alot less 50m or so . He had already scored 3 goals in man us first 2 games. If we hadn't have sold him then he still had 2 years on contract.

I wanted Giroud massively but sadly someone messed the deal up. We should have had a big name lined up to immediately replace lukaku but again for some reason hadn't that planned. I'd take a Slimani type (not necessarily him specifically) but someone similar if Walsh fancies them. Essential that they can do a job and get at least double figures tho. It's not ideal tbh.

Its a well trodden path this. Knowing months ago the price we would get from United enabled us to sign 5, 6,7, whatever is was, players within a few days of the window. Sell to buy? If you like. Did Barcelona sell Neymar to buy Couthinio?

No. But now they are ferreting around in a panic cos they were not in control of their decisions.

Player wanted out. United wanted player. We sold him for at the time, a record fee for a British transfer.

Giroud was my first choice, as well. Wouldn't hate Slimani but don't think it's very inspiring. Wonder if Walsh can pull a rabbit out of his hat.
