Summer Transfer Window 2017

Troy Deeney is not an Everton player. We are aspirational, why build a strike force around a limited player?

Because he knows his limits and plays to his strengths. Not fashionable enough for most on here. Yard dog of a centre forward. Knows where the goal is and would bring the other attackers in to the game. If we want a striker then he fits that bill.

I wanted Giroud massively but sadly someone messed the deal up. We should have had a big name lined up to immediately replace lukaku but again for some reason hadn't that planned. I'd take a Slimani type (not necessarily him specifically) but someone similar if Walsh fancies them. Essential that they can do a job and get at least double figures tho. It's not ideal tbh.

Who has messed the Giroud deal up?

Wenger gave him the option to stay or go, he chose to stay and fight for his place. I think IF he's on the bench again next week after that shambles yesterday, he might get itchy feet and feel he needs to go and play and change is mind and want to leave. If I was Koeman I'd be pestering Wenger all the time from now until the deadline on this one and getting the right people in the ears of Giroud's reps to plant that seed in his head and then IF he does change his mind were ready to pounce!

Surely it'll be Slimani?
Slimani, Jorgensen, Jimenez.......maybe Willian Jose. Would guess may go in for one of them in a worst case scenario.

Can't imagine them not bringing someone in but I am willing to give any of them the benefit of the doubt (unless we plunk 30m down for Troy flipping Deeney)

Likely not anyone whom we would have been super excited about at the beginning of the window, but too early to panic as it may still work out.

Strange things have happened late in windows, there could yet be surprises.

Can see us having to make do with the likes of Slimani or Wilfried Bony the longer the search goes on...The replacing of Lukaku has been a bit of a cock up so far hasn't it?

Naa, Bony won't be an option. We could of took him on loan last summer and we weren't interested so can't see us being interested this time around....

I get that, you are spot on. But, what I'm also considering is he's not up to scratch to bring the best of what we have. I'm not against his dogged style or determination, just feel we can get a player who will be comfortable for us with more possession and have that movement when it comes to breaking teams down. As far as I'm aware he would only suit us playing against teams who have more possession enabling chances. Don't see him as the answer.

Are you sure? Sanchez comes back, what do they do? Maybe they sell us Welbeck, but who knows

Still like Willian Jose, could deal with Bost, maybe take a flier on Jorgensen from a style standpoint. I've said it before, but I thought he was crap based on highlights. Was very impressed watch a full game.

That's a new one, whose he?!...... :p

Bit surprised that the Willian Jose links have gone very quiet, he seems the very kind of CF that Koeman likes, someone to lead the line and link play. I'm not overly keen on Dost and he wouldn't come cheap either. Jorgensen is an intriguing one. Another with good hold up play and doing well for Feyenoord but previously he wasn't great at his other clubs, but neither was Pelle until Koeman took him under his wing!.....

Spent some coin this season think we've got too many of the same player though. Maybe he is going to play sigurdsson upfront?

Sandro will be good just needs a run of games and will start finding the net.

DCL just doesn't have that raw finishing ability for me. I like his movement and he can win a flick on well, but he struggles to get his head up and make the correct decision plus he strikes me as the type who will miss more 1v1s than he scores tbh.

So I would like them to go for either

Dembele - 32 goals in up in Scotland is impressive by any means, quick, skilful and can finish. Only 21 so bags of potential.

Dolberg - 23 goals, has it all really strong, quick, great ball control, can head, can shoot and young

Jorgensen, scored a load last season and seems to have a good finish on him, a real poacher but tall and strong too.
Wouldn't write DCL off just yet mate but I agree we shouldn't be relying on him as first choice striker. I'd be happy with him as back up though, played in the correct position of course.

If we signed either of Dembele or Dolberg I'd be happy, especially with the latter. But neither fit the profile of the type of striker we're apparently after so I can't see either happening.

Jorgensen does seem to fit that profile. I confess I haven't seen much of him apart from a youtube special and I certainly wasn't impressed by what I saw. Looked like a poor man's Das Bost to me. Now Das Bost looks the type of player to make the most of Siggy's dead ball expertise. if that's our priority, then he's the one I'd be after. I hope we also have a serious go for Mandzukic.

He will revel in/with what we have.

What about Patrik Schick for our striker target? Not a target man but a good size and still physically developing. Has some real flair and quality on the ball for someone his size, some pace aswell. After Juve pulled out because of a heart condition it's mainly Inter after him, apparently Roma now aswell. The heart condition is believed to be no big issue. We should be in there, looks real quality for the price he's going for, apparently he has a buy-out clause of €25 million. Only 21yo. Better player then most striker suggestions I'm seeing. If there's no real quality players in their prime available, we should go for young quality like Schick who is good now and only going to get better
