He is the one signing I really hope we make before the window shuts. He is affordable and would make our defensive midfield unit one of the best around with the luxury of rotating top class players as United/City/Chelsea do. Get shut of McCarthy and bring him in please Everton.

I agree. Striker is the priority.

Personally there is no one to rely on if Gana and Schneiderlin are out. Davies is not a defensive type midfielder. And we can't rely on Besic neither. Both him and McCarthy are injured proned and am not sure about them. I used to think McCarthy is ok as a squad player but since he is merely available for Ireland. The ship has sealed.

NIASSE TO TURKEY

Everton striker Oumar Niasse is set for a move to Fenerbahce, according to reports from Fotospor in Turkey.

The 27-year old only moved to Goodison Park in January 2016 from Lokomotiv Moscow after a fee of £13.5m was agreed.

However, since then, he has failed to live up to his billing and spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City.

Brighton and Crystal Palace were interested in signing the Senegal international.

Does that mean we are now on plan g or h for our striker?
If we are that far down the pecking order than what do we do? Do we buy a stop gap for a year? And try again for a top quality one in the summer?

Assuming we still have money from the Lukaku deal burning a hole in our pockets i'd like to see us throw money at the problem and get the best we can. I know that's not what Steve Walsh was hired for - he was hired to find those hidden gems but if we genuinely want to make a push for champions League we need a goal scorer and a statement to make everyone go "wow they mean business".
If Giroud is plan A, actually make an official bid. Worst case is it's rejected.

If Defoe hadn't been so hasty in signing for Bournemouth he would have been an ideal stop gap.
