Summer Transfer Window 2017

Basically, yeah. I think in terms of net spend, the budget had been reached.
I don't think so. Could be wrong like. I just don't think we'd be spending money on the likes of Vlasic and that Fulham kid, if we were that hard up, knowing that a striker was so important.

I think he's just been told by Spurs, probably half way through his medical, to leave on a free next summer imo. He's saying he'll consider his options is January to avoid getting more flack.

As soon as January comes he'll go quiet, sign for no one and leave next summer on a free to get a huge signing on fee.

If he wanted to go to the World Cup he would have gone tonight. It's obvious his priority is money.
Why bother going down there today at all then, he obviously intended to sign until something happened

It's a good point against Sandro mate, I don't think anyone is writing him off. I think it's more to do with it not wanting to put him under too much pressure as he might take time.

We've made some great signings imo and you know what we can even scrape through to January in all probability. But when you sell your leading scorer for 75m, you go out and buy someone who can do the same job or you don't sell. So between the board, Koeman and Walsh they have absolutely [Poor language removed] up and don't deserve any defence on that because it's blatantly obvious

We are in the position where we are currently hoping Baines can play approx 65 games for a successful season as there is no back up

Kenwright has [Poor language removed] it up you mean. Walsh identifies players, Bill gets them.

Your point is mute.

Lukaku being here for that extra year could have made the difference.

Perhaps it could have done,
Well no, it was very possible.

He was under contract for another two years.

Van Dyck, Coutinho and Sanchez wanted away but it did not suit their clubs ergo they are still in situ.

Of course, we might have decided to tell him he's staying put, all the while he refuses to sign a new contract and you end up with a world class player with 1 year remaining who wants out. Reminds me of a mess we are in at the moment.

Sometimes you have to sell when the time is right.

We are a top half premier league team competing in four competitions with no recognised centre forwards. Yet some people want us to believe that this transfer window was a success. The mind boggles.
It has been, we have a better defence/midfield. Wheels have fallen off these last few weeks but I'm still happy (obviously miffed about lcb and st). Hopefully DCL and Sandro continue to improve and adapt.

Everton failed to land the striker and defender Ronald Koeman had targeted on a frustrating deadline day.

The Blues secured the services of teenager winger Nikola Vlasic from Hajduk Split in a £10m deal and were hoping to complete a deal for Fulham youngster Dennis Adeniran but were unable to finalise the signing of players left on Koeman's wishlist.

Ross Barkley had looked certain to leave Goodison but after Everton had agreed a £35m deal with Chelsea the 23-year-old is said to have performed a dramatic u-turn and rejected a move to Stamford Bridge.

Oumar Niasse, despite interest from Crystal Palace, remains at Everton after the two clubs failed to agree a deal for the £10m-rated forward.

The Blues were also willing to listen to offers to take the out-of-favour Kevin Mirallas on a permanent deal after Koeman questioned his “attitude” but rejected loan approaches from West Ham and Olympiakos.

Koeman had spoke of the “importance” of signing a targetman before the 11pm deadline but despite making enquiries for a host of forwards, Everton were unable to get a deal over the line.

Olivier Giroud of Arsenal
The Blues, having missed out on first-choice Olivier Giroud, asked about Swansea's Fernando Llorente but the Spanish striker joined Spurs in a final day twist.

Lucas Perez, a target 12 months ago before he moved to Arsenal, was linked but opted on a return to Deportivo La Coruna.

Meanwhile an offer to take Thomas Vermaelen on loan, with a view to making it a permanent move, was made but Barcelona refused to sanction his release despite lengthy talks.

Oliver Giroud's WIFE said no to Everton
Koeman wanted to find left-sided defensive cover but will now have to make do with his current options at the back.

Everton finished the summer window having made eight senior signings in deals worth around £155m, breaking their transfer record to land Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City in the process.

Wayne Rooney returned from Manchester United as Romelu Lukaku headed in the other direction for an initial £75m.

Wayne Rooney back at his spiritual home.
Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Davy Klaassen all arrived in big money moves while the Blues triggered Sandro Ramirez's £5.2m release clause at Malaga.

Everton paid £7m to sign Henry Onyekuru from KAS Eupen, before loaning him to Anderlecht for the season, while Cuco Martina came in on a free transfer.

Koeman also sold Gerard Deulofeu and Tom Cleverley to Barcelona and Watford respectively.

Callum Connolly joined Ipswich Town on a season long loan deal.

Which is all well and good, however any team team that plays us knows, that if they go one goal up the chances are they're gonna get a result.

Which ever way you look at it, we've had our pants pulled down yet again.

I don't think so. Could be wrong like. I just don't think we'd be spending money on the likes of Vlasic and that Fulham kid, if we were that hard up, knowing that a striker was so important.

But there's spending an extra 10m or whatever and then spending the amount you would have to to buy in the type of goal scorer we need. I think it would have been too much without more cash coming in.

Moshiri was clear on SSN that he expects to finish sixth or better. With the absence of Lukaku's 25 league goals I don't see in that squad that we will replace them. We haven't closed the gap on those above us in my opinion so can't see us doing that well until January earliest and the new window.

Striker was the one position that needed replacing with high quality and while we've tried to spread the goals around there is a big hole there at present. Playing twice a week will expose it i reckon.

That may well have been the case.
Probably needed to sell a few at the end of the window to fund a striker. Unfortunately it didn't happen.

In addition, there were no credible rumours/whispers for a decent striker over the last couple of days. Even had the barkley sale gone through I really don't think we had a striker lines up.

I really think it was as much down to bad management as anything .

Agreed,

But you said it was "impossible" for us to keep him.

It wasn't.

He was under contract.
