Rooney, miles past his best and nowhere near good enough for a starting spot in a top six side for 20m and 150k a week, or Tielemans, 19 and already looking good enough for a top six side, for 20m and 50k a week?

Totally agree. Would prefer us to focus on buying players that are going to improve and not lose value than risk money on players that are only going to decline and cost astronimicle wages, which will affect our ability to buy other players for the 1st team.

I'm not sure many on here would agree paying £20m for Rooney would be good business to be fair, regardless of who else we could sign.

Radio city in the car mentioned something along the lines of Koeman is interested in signing Pickford from Sunderland as a first choice goal keeper. I didn't hear all the details as the radio was on low but is this real news?
Hofully just media gossip and there's nothing to it.

Why wouldn't you want our two first team goalkeepers to be Joel and Pickford?
Because they are both fairly young and both need to gain experience which you only get by playing regular. Just look how much Joel has developed this last few months, you can't do that on the bench, neither of them can. If we got Pickford we would be under pressire to devekope him for England's sake, which im sure Koeman would care abour even less then me.
Besides we need to be settled at the back, not chopping and changing all the time.

if Joel keeps playing the way he has been til the end of the season, he deserves the No 1 jersey next season IMO, no need to replace a high performing player

Why not both? I think Rooney would be fine as an impact sub/ main back up for Lukaku. Also I doubt there is anyway he is sold for 20M. Man U want him gone and the only team that would pay that amount is China (MLS record is about 6M). Rooney also holds the cards if Rooney says he only wants to go to Everton then, Man U I imagine couldn't be too fussed over a fee since they at this point would just be ecstatic to get his wages off of their list.

As far as a goalie goes, I think we need to bring in one more and Pickford is my pick. As far as shot stopping goes both are very good natural shot stoppers, but Robles has the size advantage and probably commands the box better now, however Pickford is miles ahead when it comes to distribution. He may be one of the top goalies at the PL in this aspect. I think pickfords ability to ping the ball out and lead a quick counter wiuld be extremely beneficial, especially for Lukaku who has shown to be at his best when he is going full steam and the defenders are also running back to their goal. It seems that there is starting to see a split in the PL and when our wages start catching up there will be a top 7 in the PL. So with the addition of Europe, cup ties and injuries having two strong keepers shouldn't be an issue and still leave game time for both.
