EVERTON want to sign Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij but could miss out if Chelsea express their interest, according to reports.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is a keen admirer of fellow Dutchman De Vrij, having coached him at Feyenoord.

The centre-back is out of contract next summer and Lazio have failed to convince him to sign fresh terms.

Inter Milan have also been tracking the 25-year-old but the Daily Star Sunday claim Everton’s biggest rivals for his signature are in fact Chelsea.

According to the report, the Toffees are willing to spend the £30million required to snap up the Netherlands international.

But even the prospect of playing under Dutchman Koeman may not be enough to convince De Vrij to move to Merseyside.

According to the report, Chelsea is a more appetising prospect for the ex-Feyenoord player, who would find it hard to reject the chance to play for the Stamford Bridge club.
I wondered about him. A possibility, especially of Chelski go after bigger fish.

Not sure how reputable the source is but if we were in for him and we do get beaten to his signature by West Ham I'll give up on football.

Doubt it; this is an interview of him yesterday:

He clearly states that he hasn't decided anything yet about his future and that he could go to either a team in the Belgian, German or English competition. If la DH is to be believed; RSCA is actually winning the negotiations atm.

Lazio have only qualified for the Europa League so he could be our new Jagielka, he has 12 months left on his contract and we could get him at a snip because of that.

Chelsea can't sign all the center backs and keep Ake/Zouma so someone should be available

I have to know, if you don't like these two, who exactly do you see as players to take us forward (that we have a snowballs chance of acquiring)?
Tbh, there is very little talent available at the moment. I can't (realistically) see much improvement on Capt Jags and Ashley Williams

26 starts in Serie A this season so find his injuries bad luck/random.

32 starts for Feyenoord in 2013/14 and 29 starts for Lazio in 2014/15.

seems like he is injury-prone actually! :) although 9/15 of those injuries over the last nearly 5 years were for 10 days or less.

New Super Eagles invitee Henry Onyekuru is unlikely to play again for Eupen after netting a brace for the modest Belgian club on Saturday, though he has refused to rule out the possibility of continuing his career in Belgium or Germany.

Southampton, Everton, West Brom, Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough are some of the teams in England monitoring his performances ahead of the opening of the transfer window.

German pair Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund as well as R.S.C. Anderlecht and Club Brugge are also keeping tabs on the young Nigerian striker.

''I have not decided yet. I wanted to wait until the end of the play-offs. I hope to announce my future in one or two weeks,'' said Onyekuru.

''I've always dreamed of the Premier League but everything is possible: Belgium, Germany Or England.''

The Aspire Academy product scored 24 goals in 41 matches in the just concluded season.

Chelsea are not after De Vrij, looks like Conte is hell bent on signing VVD, and he apparently wants to come so we are a non factor in any deal involving De Vrij. Great player If you ask me, but a bit injury prone
