Summer Transfer Window 2017

and thats exactly why targeting players in the premiership already is a weird one, by and large the league is paying much higher than any other league in the world - so your immediately setting a high bar you then have to go massively over.

Doubt that you'd have to give a lad from Ajax 130k per week to massively turn their head

Perhaps It's swings and roundabouts though , plenty of players looked the business but failed to transfer that form to the Prem and many of those that did needed a bedding in period .

A lot of managers like a core of experienced premier league players because they know what they're getting , if you can have a spine of those maybe it allows the overseas signings some time to settle .

Signing 5 overseas players who've never played here , especially younger players , could certainly be considered a risk . I'm not saying that it's certainly the case but it'd probably be a consideration.

The club will be sensible with bids and contract offers, we know that, and it makes sense.

There will indeed come a time though, and perhaps this is it with Sigurdsson, that they have to go the extra mile and make improved offers to players to get deals over the line.

A succession of stalled and failed transfers is the last thing we need this summer.

The cost of missing out on 3-4 key targets would be significant, and the thing is we are likely to make that extra couple of million back with higher league placings and cup runs anyway.

Spot on

I have read somewhere that Koubailly the CB from Napoli we are interested in , is on 800,000 PER YEAR after tax in Italy
Surely we should offer double or treble those type of wages

It's why you need to do a balancing act of both types mate

If we sell Rom we're going to need more than one player to replace him.

Koeman wants 3-4 strikers (as in, players who can play anyway across the front line) all capable of getting 10-15 goals per-season.
Sure, completely agree. Get Sandro in plus a proven top goalscorer and that's two strikers, which is one more real striker than we've had this season. Mirallas can play up top, that's our emergency option sorted. Don't think we need more than that, however if the young kid from City really is available then absolutely go for him too.

Mertens new contract is being reported as being 4m Euros per season.

So roughly 70k quid per week

Its like a dominio effect. To get our targets in you must make some statement signings. Players and agents take note everton are meaning business and then everton are stronger in negotiations down the line

Mate, STCC is in no way shape or form gonna be any limit on what we do or don't do is more the point.

anyone who bangs the drum it is, is basically making false excuses up for any underwhelming summer

Sorry, the point was more that Moshiri isn't just allowed to bankroll everything and there are limits on what we are allowed to spend.

You're absolutely right in as much as we appear to have cleared the decks and teed ourselves up to allow us to spend a lot of money this summer on the wage bill and STCC shouldn't be a reason we have a poor transfer window.

Point was aimed more at the likes of Sigurdsson wanting £130k or whatever - every penny we pay him over what we want to pay him (or anyone else wanting over the odds, if that's what it is) is money we can't use on wages for other targets we want to bring in as no billionaire owner is allowed to just bankroll the difference

Sigurdsson sees this as the last big move of his career I guess. He's goin to ask for big wages especially if he knows that other clubs are interested. We ain't in champions league so can't offer that. But if we are to progress we need to sign players management feel can bring us to that level. And big wages are a part of the incentive.
