..a report in London says Everton have returned with an improved offer for 18 year old Josh Bowler from QPR.

Never heard of him before we have been linked, and im pretty up on all the young english kids and that

But maybe Kenny will get to start 15 or 20 games with Martina as back up. With Europa league qualifiers and league cup games as well he probably won't start then all

..I think that could be likely. I don't know Martina but he might have versatility to cover across the back four if required. It might be bad news for Kenny but the squad clearly needs bolstering for what is hopefully a busy campaign. An underwhelming signing it might be but probably needed.

Why would we be signing a player to be effectively 4th choice? We will be signing him as he's an experienced player to get us through till Colemans back. I understand that logic but as indicated i would rather see Kenny given a run of 15 games.

Kenny is 20 now. He will be asking himself how long he has to wait for a chance. I suspect if it goes through Kenny will go. I don't mind losing young players if we are buying better players but losing younger lads to journeymen like Martina will be hard to take.
I think he'll get his chance, signing a squad player on a free suggest that. If he was going to be overlooked I'm sure we'd be spending money on an established first team player. Like you I'd like Kenny to be given the chance and hopefully he will but we have no idea how he will take to the premierleague. It's a massive step up and it's not the worst idea having someone there to both cover for him and push him.
I don't think Holegate will be played at RB next season, he's a CB and it would be good to see him get a run out there - especially as Jag's legs have gone. When he played there in a 3 last season he was great.
It's going to be a long and busy season and having bodies is never a bad thing and with Europe especially these kids will get game time and we are only ever 2-3 injuries away from a crisis (again Oviedo, Cleverley and Stone all stinking up RB in the past).

The high horse bit was actually aimed at a couple of others not you mate though I didn't make that clear.

I agree that we can't expect to spend on quality everywhere, but I'd like to think after a whole year Koeman and Walsh could've put their heads together and found someone other than the lad who isn't good enough for Saints that they almost signed last year. Like Spurs bought Trippier as backup for Walker, we should be nicking a lower prem's first choice or a top young one from the championship.

Pretty much agree with you there, although hopefully Kenny is that young one. I think if we were to buy a young 'un I think that'd give an indication that Koeman doesn't see Kenny as long term. This to me looks like a stop gap without (hopefully) spending silly money on wages or too long a contract. It just makes sense to me as it frees up Holgate who is not a RB. He's provided great cover there and got some good regular experience in the first team. Signing someone like Martina gives us more opportunity to use Holgate at centre back... and fingers crossed Kenny (Coleman when or if he's fully fit again) at regular RB

He's very good Zat.

But, yesterday, he made a few very big mistakes which yes, he did recover from, but still showed his inexperience.

Don't think it helped that the movement in front of him was crap, but he was really slow on the ball as well.

Anyway, only 20, plenty of time to improve.

So, his passes went astray in one game....

But ok, the Dutch team didn't move into space for him...

I think you've answered your own opinion there, if we signed him he would be our best centre back.
