Looks a bit smug, likes he's been up to something

Thanks Bungz.

He's rubbish, I don't think we should sign him x

If we're using Fifa stats to replace players then I don't think we'll find a better predator in the box to replace Lukaku than this fella at Liverpool

I really don't think they 'loathe' him.

He's not great. Nobody is saying he is.

But it's a sensible signing.

The lad has Prem experience, and will offer an alternative at a position we need cover for purely because our first-choice is injured.

When he's fit, nobody is displacing Seamus - rightly so - so it's about having a few players we can alternate there until he returns.

Holgate, Kenny, Martina looks like three options which will help see us through.

no its not!!

hes played right back too.
2 or 3, are you trying to tell me if i watch him loads i'll see hes really under-rated and should be starting every game for southampton and liverpool will be after him to replace clyne soon

He played right-back on three occasions in 2015-16. That's it.

And no, definitely not. I'm just saying, he's fine for what he is, which is a player to rotate with the youngsters heading into what should be a very busy season, until our first-choice right-back (one of the best in the country) has returned to full fitness.

no its not!!

For the reasons I keep pointing out, I think it is.

If you disagree that's fine. But just don't get upset about a free signing (that may or may not happen) who'd purely be an alternative for the youngsters.

I'm sure if we got to deadline day and we hadn't signed a right-back, we'd have plenty of people on here slamming them for not signing an alternative...

The fact that so many people are happy with Martina coming to us proves that a high percentage of people here have literally zero understanding of football. He's a terrible defender, gets beaten very easily, bombs upfield then jogs back again, doesn't go in for 50-50s etc etc

Not having a go at your friendo, but if we have the true understanding of football we would not sit here typing all these opinion, instead we would be a scout of the club or something.

If Koeman does not feel Holgate and Kenny are adequate back-up to Coleman I don't see what's wrong with bringing his own players in.

But what is wrong with giving Kenny a run?

Martina is third choice for a side that finished about 20 points below us. He's not a young player and won't improve. Throw Kenny in and he might bomb like Martina has but he might succeed and we'd have another young scouse lad in the first team.

This signing essentially confines Kennys career at Everton to the dustbin. It seems massively short term thinking.

I like Kenny and would have played him this year with the injuries , our management clearly felt differently played what is effectively a centre half out there . The lad has had two loans to a league one and league two side , in that order I think .

Kenny might have a great future but those watching him everyday might be unsure , the same people who trusted Davies and holgate . Perhaps they believe to benefit his longterm career and as a result Everton a loan at a championship club might be just what he needs , I don't know . However it's not like we've had the lad play 15 games for Everton , do well and then find himself in this situation .

Surely we can only judge where we are going and what the plans are when we see the long term intentions and results ?

This.

Give Kenny a run out or sign someone better than this clown. Why give a long contract to a sub standard player ?

If the coaching staff don't think Kenny is ready then a loan deal must be available for someone better than Martina

It doesn't at all. There is no harm in signing a player that offers cover, It will allow move Holgate back into the centre where he should be and we have then 2 RB's filling the void left by Coleman who won't be back this year. If Kenny proves to be the better option he'll be played, Koeman has shown with DCL and Davies he has no problem playing younger lads ahead of seasoned pros. I don't see the problem.... It wasn't that long ago we were playing Oviedo at RB and it still haunts my dreams.
RB is a temp problem and this is a temp fix. i genuinely don't see the point in spending multi-millions on a player who will be cover for several months. That money can and hopefully will be put towards far more important areas of the pitch.
