Neither were excellent during our huge slump between Jan and March. I wouldn’t say they were excellent. We finished 8th. They were both quite good for a decent amount of the season, excellent in a handful of games, and shocking in a handful of games.

We massively overrate both players as a fan base. None of the top 6 would touch Siggurdson. Gueye perhaps, but when he’s not in top form his deficiencies on the ball become a lot more apparent.

Watching us be waltzed through by Fulham West Ham Wolves Watford etc. Showed to me that the midfield is the area of the team that we still need to sort out. It’s the root of our problems away from home and isn’t consistent enough to get top 4 in my opinion.
I do agree with this and have said the same, I do think silva wants to play 433, so I can see siggurdsson moving on after this season.

Gana to be fair finished the season strongly, and I wouldn’t mind if he stayed, though I think A big over and he will be sold, the only other thing is look at Liverpool their midfield is nothing special, yet they nearly won the league and of course won number 6. A great defence and front 3, proves you can be a great team with just a functioning midfield.

Agree. I think we need more physicality and quality in there. Gana does what he does well but it's like one aspect of the game and as you say he isn't consistent at times despite a very good end to the season. We need to bring someone in to replace Morgan and rotate with Gana in my opinion. A box to box player would be my preference.

Don't traditional strikers traditionally score goals?
I am thinking in terms of how they play the game, hold up play etc.
If you can find a traditional striker that can guarantee us 20 odd goals a season and fit our budget I would guess that Marcel Brands would love to hear from you.

I think the sheer cost of quality strikers is forcing the change in the way teams play.

I don't think we will sign a striker, at least not a recognised striker in the mould that we are familiar with.

I look at Liverpool and see the importance of pace and the goals contributed by Salah, Mane, Sane and Sterling who are all forwards but not strikers.
We have seen the same with Richarlison and I think it is players like this we will sign and try to spread the goals more evenly through the team.
Players with pace who can play wide but also score some goals.

I think our team will be focused on pace and pressing going forward more than muscle and strength.
DCL is a striker more in the traditional mould but does work hard for the team and is athletic , I think he will play a signicifant role this season but as an alternative type of player to allow the team change it's style when needed.

That front three of the RS's, Firminho, Salah and Mane got 56 league goals between them last season mate, we would have to upgrade to top quality to get close to that considering that RS front three scored 2 more than our whole team put together.
