I wouldn't sell Walcott. He's ok as a squad player who will guarantee you 4 or 5 goals over a season, or even closer to 10 on a very good one.

If we bring in another left footed right winger, as Marco seems set on, and a striker, we will then have three top wide players plus Walcott, Lookman and Henry. We need to sell 2 of these really as that's too many. Personally I'd sell Walcott as he's on a mega salary for somebody who would be 4th choice and one of the others, although I accept that the other 2 would probably fetch higher fees.

There's no doubt Walcott at his best would probably be pushing for a start, never mind 4th choice. But I don't know whether we've seen the last of Walcott at his best.

Apologies. I thought it was a mispost as £10 is a bit silly really isn't it.? So I genuinely thought we were just £5m away in our valuations so couldn't understand why you pulled me up. However I know better now.

Anyway, as regards your £10 comment. We had agreed a fee with Middlesborough of £6m for Besic last season only for it to fall through as he couldn't agree personal terms. But he subsequently went on loan for which we would have received a fee well in excess of £10. In January we loaned Niasse to Cardiff for 6 months. The loan fee was £1m with an option to buy at £7m including the loan fee.

If McCarthy was made available I genuinely believe he would have a number of suitors. He's been a very good player who's had some bad injuries, but is still only 28. I am sure there would be suitors for him.
