Dom King is a kopite and his own newspaper ran a story claiming we'd bid for Zaha earlier this week.

So I'll be taking everything he says with a pinch of salt.

In fact I'll be taking pretty much everything I hear from the press with a pinch of salt. The fact that people actually think either sky or the echo know what's going on is almost unbelievable.

That has absolutely no barring on what he'll have written.

(I don't actually know what has been written by King re. Zaha, but he's the Merseyside correspondent for the Mail and so covers both clubs equally, or at least, however much the Mail want to cover both clubs).

Never seen a summer with such conflicting signals for our spending power, or lack thereof.

I have never thought it was sell to buy, unless Richarlison was sold, and that doesn't seem likely.

They know they have to spend in net terms, question is how much given the limited amount we can raise in sales, even including Gana.

That's why I think they will sign Kean on Juve's terms, get another on loan or maybe two, and find cash for a permanent.

Gbambin would offset Gana, Arias on loan at RB, Kean, and whatevers left in the kitty. I would rather put that towards a CB than Zaha.

He hasn't written anything personally from what I can see. These seem to be quotes from a radio interview. However his own paper have been pushing this story all week, so I find it all a bit farcical.

He's fairly good for a red when reporting on us, but from time to time it's pretty clear where his allegiance lies. So I'm always a little sceptical.

He's not done a thing on Zaha or us, for that fact, in a little bit. I assume he's not gotten anything from Kenwright as that's where his info comes from.

Every time, the Echo is just click bait rubbish. Of course they can both get things wrong, things can change, and just because a bid is made dosent always mean a sale.
Dont forget nothing comes out from the inside at Everton, but are Palace so water tight? I doubt it, and out of the 2 I'd hazard a guess Sky can get info from Palace faster then a no mark rag like the Echo.

For me if Sky say we have gone for a straight offer of 55 large and The Echo are saying we haven't, chances are we have.

Seems to me that King's insight is based purely on him being too expensive and Everton wanting to bring in 5, rather than splurge on him.

Has there been any talk from Everton about having a limited budget? I know that the priority is to reduce the squad numbers and bring down the overall wage bill, but is just assuming that Moshiri won't be willing to spend big of 3/4 players after unloading some deadwood.

Fairs. End of the day he's still one of the more reliable ones for us but only gets what the club decide to give him.

I'm honestly not even sure how we're gonna go about the next few weeks. Have a feeling we could get about 4 players and also have a feeling we might end up with one. Just don't know.

A centre back
A right back
