if that's true, then football really has gone completely crazy.
£87m on a lump like Maguire?
Somebody needs their head examining.
I hope they keep spending Like this for another while, paying about 50 million too much for a player.. it's unsustainable for them no way they are getting back to the champions league if this continues.. I have to say being from Ireland and having to put up with the conduct of United fans for 2 decades I'm loving their slide towards mid table I actually hate United more than I hate Liverpool.

A bid of 87m put in
The cult will go mad when the most expensive Centre half in the world doesn’t play for them

Utter madness. It really seems that some massive transfer deals are conducted based on nothing but jumping aboard the latest bandwagon.

Maguire is good. I can’t recall ever seeing a game where he looked imperious, like the kind of CB you’d expect a club to pay a world record fee for. He’s probably on a par with Keane, so even if you account for inflation I’d have assumed £40m absolute tops.

Fair play to Leicester if they get that for him; United just seem like a rudderless mess as far as recruitment goes.

Need to start seeing these come through now Brands mate, all good to here "fee agreed" etc but nows the time to see these boys in the shirt.
Just give it time. A lot has to happen behind the scenes to get all deals finalized. Kean should be either today or Tomorrow.

I think we need to go back onto the gold standard because the last time we saw inflation like this, a bunch of right wing nutjobs took over and thought they could shaft the rest of Europe for their benefit and hang the consequences.

This won't end well for that little norwegian gnome.

It won’t but It’s not his fault though. Their director of football doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. He should’ve walked away as soon as Leicester said what their asking price was but it’s almost like a matter of principle that they get him now. There’s much better players out there at much better value.

Reminds me of us a few years ago - there’s no thought out strategy at all.

87m for that swell head

united are in absolute despair at the minute, doing what we done under walsh and just blow ridiculous money for a quick fix

not complaining like, but don't expect ole to last past christmas

I wonder what Chelsea will want for zouma (if they agree to sell him) when they see Maguire at £80m, dunk for £40m, some championship centre back for £20m+ and the young lad who’s gone to villa for £25m+???

Much better value abroad but increased risk to go with it.

Maybe that was when the decline started.

I see people comparing Keane and Maguire a lot, which to me is tantamount to arguing over the likes of Wes Brown and Michael Duberry.
Wes Brown went to the 2002 World Cup. I get that there isnt the likes of Campbell, Terry or Ferdinand anymore but England hasn't always been blessed with immense depth at CB.
