He played there in Spain though...

On the counter perhaps having Gnonto/Iling Junior (as they push into the team) and Danjuma brings serious pace...could be better than going for a 'lump'?

I really hope we get El Bilal though.
Under a different manager, with a different system. Maybe one like the RS played a couple of years back, it could work fine. But it absolutely won't suit Dyche's style.

As, I've said on here many times, I am not a fan of Dyche, but it is pointless to sign players that cannot work in his system. Where Thelwell has to earn his corn is in finding good, young, versatile players that suit Dyche's system, but may also be used in other systems should we change manager again in the future. So we need to avoid dross like Weghorst etc.

A good example, is that I would love us to sign Gift Orban as no. 1 target, but having looked at the stats, Toure (although he almost certainly ain't coming) would obviously be a better fit for Dyche's system. If Toure develops, he will be good enough to play in other systems, or a good enough asset to sell on. That's how the DoF and the manager should work together, instead of the way we've done it so far.

Not for me because I believe if he'd of been a better manager he'd of had us safe alot sooner then the final day.

Refusing to play Patterson, persisting with keane when we had mina on the bench. Playing Maupay when we had simms. Pushing onana into advanced positions when he's better as a cdm.

The fact he completely fell to bits when Doucoure got sent off against spurs and was out for 3 games.

His in game decision making it abysmal. His team selection is dreadful. Fulham lost 5 on the bounce, no striker, no manager and everyone at that ground knew we'd be beat by them because of that team selection.

In short hes a poor manager.
Agree 100%. However, I wouldn't advocate his being removed. We've made our bed and it's on the club to get him players that suit his system but are assets as opposed to the donkeys he usually signs.

People , this is a clear case of people over compensating as they had massively supported Lampard last season.

If we dont land El Bilal Toure, Dia or another CF...

...would anyone be comfortable with Danjuma up top and Iling-Junior + Gnonto brought in to rotate with McNeil, Doucoure and Iwobi -- with Gray sold?

Get through a season and those two would probably replace Iwobi and Doucoure.
No. None of those players have proven they can add the required goals we need. Danjuma being the likeliest bet, but he didn’t exactly pull up trees at spurs.

I like the strategy of going for young talent, but we’re gambling our top flight status in doing so.

This isn’t to say we should go and sign a load of ageing journeymen, but there’s a middle ground.

Yes you're right we need to work with what is in place not with a fantasy. I want Everton to be an exciting passing team cutting teams to ribbons but its not going to happen with the players and manager and budget we have so I want them to just find people who make us the best version of what we are for now.

Oh, please.

Using a knockout tournament result to a leauge result isnt even comparable.

Youre the one re writing history because dyche is our manager.

Jackson had 24pts to play for and got 11pts. Well, guess what? Dyche had 90pts to play for and got 24pts. Thats where the relegation happened in the 30 games dyche was in charge.

Jackson had 1.3 points per game, dyche had 0.8. Over the course a full season dyche was on course to get 30pts for Burnley. Jackson would of gotten 49pts.s
But yeah it was all Jacksons fault:coffee:

Lol.

I’m dealing in facts, not hypothetical PPG’s.

You can’t attach a “second relegation“ to a man who wasn’t employed by the club at the time of aforementioned relegation.

At Matchweek 30 in the 13/14 season Leicester City were bottom of the league on 19pts (0.66 ppg). Eight games later they were sat on 41pts. Those 8 games returned 2.75ppg. Notice these are actual PPG’s, not hypothetical ones.

Dyche was never given the opportunity to save the club. Burnley had plenty of time to turn their season around, they failed. The incumbent takes the blame.

:coffee:

Gnonto has played most gamed as a 'support striker'...Iling Junior and him can also play both wings.

If we have McNeil, Doucoure and Iwobi botj of them can cover every position.

Regarding Danjuma coming in...he can also play CF as he did in Spain.

Please stick with the party line on here and don’t spout this sort of stuff.

Never mind that we got a player good enough to lead the line for a CL semi finalists team for an absolute pittance, let’s just pretend he doesn’t even exist and complain how we’ve not (and will not ever) bring another striker into the club.

DCL is definitely missing the entire season, McNeill Doucoure and Iwobi will follow their goal outputs under Lampard rather than under Dyche, let’s just assume Danjuma is a massive fraud or might also get crocked and just ignore him, and let’s just take as certain that we’re not getting any other forwards in.

If we just assume all of this as true…Where are the goals going to come from?!!

Personally not that bothered missing out on Bilal Toure, but broadly very disappointed in the window. My estimation the areas of need entering the summer were a leftback, Centerback, Striker and Right Winger. As it stands one could make the case NONE of those have been adequately addressed. Young may cover but he is a more a RB. Danjuma equally has some versatility across the front 3 but mostly favors the left. Coady walking has grounds but makes the necessity of another CB all the more evident. And we continue to miss out on Striker targets.

All those I think could have been achievable as demonstrated in the market for reasonable expenses. Fabiano Parisi, a very engaging LB moved from Empoli to Fiorentina for 10 million. RW I dont think there has been as good a fit to need but a case for the likes of Ismaila Sarr to Marseille for 13 million, Tim Weah to Juve for 11, maybe even Gonzalo Plata to Al Sadd (fair to note maybe on inflated wages) for 12 at least demonstrate viability in garnering a decent add reasonably in that price range. Club stability and fit let alone wages fair to note but compromise im sure could be made or made up by marginal raises on transfer fees.

Their is no difference at Centerback and Striker. I think there are a myriad of names that could be fetched for similar fees. But instead we are connected at higher price points which makes me think the unlikelihood we fill all those positional holes by the end of the window, which in total likely effects results and future profits in sell ons more dramatically.
