A front 3 of Gibbs White, Awoniyi and Johnson is much better than we have at the moment. Not sold on Elanga but he will be a decent enough option there.

The lack of urgency this summer has been astonishing.

Then we hear from Thelwell on the morning of the first game. He spoke a good game, but all his failings were then highlighted in full view to the world a few hours later. He surely can see the issues and is fully aware of the problem, so where is the urgency and desperation to improve things and help the manager?

I don't want to hear words, I want to see actions, because all the evidence so far points to everyone involved in player recruitment being incompetent.

Christ, what a mess we are in. Waiting on a sick note striker to replace our non existent prem standard forwards. Then trying to offload our other half decent players to finance deals for other half decent players who probably won’t come off! Remind me how we got here? All of the incompetence lies with Moshiri and Kenwright and how their weak leadership has led us into dire straits with FFP, and/or their reluctance to invest any more money into the squad, all of which means Thelwell is now having to try and identify quality players who we can sign for a fiver or on loan.

All of the incompetence lies with Moshiri and Kenwright and how their weak leadership has led us into dire straits with FFP, and/or their reluctance to invest any more money into the squad, all of which means Thelwell is now having to try and identify quality players who we can sign for a fiver or on loan.

We spent about 40m on midfielders last year when we were desperate for goalscorers.

Yes his job is difficult, but it's difficult for 95% of people who work in player recruitment. The fact it's not an easy job is not an excuse and he's judged on results.

It's the second year in a row he's left his manager to start a season with diabolical forward options. It's totally unacceptable, and will more than likely end up with the inevitable sacking of yet another manager. How can he watch that shambolic performance in front of goal today and think he has done a good job.

We need BK, FM and KT all to go so we can get some meaningful change at this club, and then move forward.

The fact that we have entered yet another season with the bizarre hope that DCL will score the goals we need is a failure of management by every single member of the club with a responsibility for signing players. Thelwell, Kenwright, Moshiri. A triumvirate of pure tripe. We should've absolutely snotted Fulham today but, as usual, nul points.

He would have scored for fun today. Always liked Rom even when he chatted wham on international break. Backed his abilities and vocalized it. That ship has sailed sadly. Now we have a sick note as our star striker.
