He was brought in when Fulham were building into the game, with barely enough time to make a difference. 60 mins would have been the time.

But by only giving him 17 mins, it would suggest he is a fair way from full match fitness.

DCL played two lots of 45mins a week ago but was deemed match fit so didn’t play. Could he not have played 20/30mins?
Who knows. We are just inferring things because we don't know all of the facts. I think what's pretty clear to me is that Maupay is the only option we have that is near or at 100% fitness. Our other options aren't and need to be eased into the side. A mix of unfortune due to injury but also poor recruitment leading us to having very little attacking option.

Now the reality has to surly of hit home in the background. We are playing a young right back who is still not good enough to start in the league. We have a good quality midfielder being used as a right winger. We have Iwobi on the wing who is better a central midfielder and we have a striker who simply put cannot actually strike a ball.

The time to act is now.

Go and get Lukaku.
Go and get Kudos.
Go and get Gnoto.
Go and get Ekitike.

This has to be it now. We cannot go another season with Maupay up front. As much as we have wanted it to work. It simply doesn’t. We need good quality players and fast.
I wonder how today would be if Maupey had scored two and we had won the match...?

But that's my point? He wasn't good in that one game and was injured so how can people argue that is better than a player who has been fit throughout pre-season and is up to the standard we arguably need fitness wise in the PL to start the game?
He was clearly fit enough to be on the bench though so must have been up to some standard that Dyche deemed acceptable, also if you watched any of his time at Preston he is clearly a natural finisher in front of goal with both feet.

Match fitness will only come from playing high intensity football matches. I'm not really sure what logic Dyche is following with his comments.

If DCL was involved I doubt he would have been. Our bench isn't inspiring. We have no other options available. I'm surprised so many people think that you go into games with everyone 100% fit in the squad.

Not a total hack so pretty mid tier. But he’s gone in pretty certain on this when no one else is reporting it so his reputation for Everton stuff is either going up or plummeting down depending on whether he’s totally made it up.
Let's be honest, doubt he really cares about his Everton reputation, we're irrelevant anyway.
