Really?!?

If we had Rom yesterday we win.... We aren`t in a relegation battle with a goalscoring forward and we woul already be 3 points better off, FWIW I couldn`t care how `lazy` he is if he bags 12-15 in the league, people need to get over this.
I just think looking for a saviour player is a mistake. It's not a sustainable strategy, in my view. This has nothing to do with Lukaku's talent or temperament for me. We've lost one game in a season where we knew we were going to struggle. The question is: how can we make sure we are better next year and the year after?

He definitely didn't make any sense because he said we had to wait until the end of the rehab period, which is fine. But then said he had finished the rehab period!

It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to your average fan how 7 days earlier a player can be fit enough to play 45 mins, but 7 days later is not available for say 20 mins as a sub.

But as this is the transfer thread, the issue is clearly recruitment and our bizarre refusal to replace DCL. This is the third year in a row we are taking a gamble, and there is no logical reason why.
Couple of things:

1. He said he's at the end of his rehab period as in nearing the end. The end can mean the end point out the last bit. In the full context of the press conference after the game that was clear.

2. Surely, surely you understand the difference between 45 minutes in a friendly and playing competitively in the PL?

3. The rehab programme will include X amount of training sessions before posting competitively. If that target hasn't been fulfilled, then he doesn't play. It's as simple as that.

If you've ever had an injury and seen a physio, they give you rehab exercises to do and their advice is to follow the programme and wait to see if you see an improvement before you return to your activities. It's exactly the same principle here.

Really can't get my head round why some find any of this hard to understand.

Same for Danjuma. A couple more misses when he is playing out of position and he will get slaughtered. Our fans are right to he impatient and frustrated but we often take it out on the wrong people
Agree Danjuma isn't a striker either he can probably fill in for a bit but it's not his favoured position he is a wide forward refuse to judge him until he gets a run of games as a wide player or as a second striker

The comments from the manager were not clear, and not easy to understand. Why not say on Thursday he is unavailable instead of being constantly vague with supporters. Transparency is something that we don't see to get at this club.

There is a difference between competitive and non-competitive minutes but pre-season is still useful. And you need to play in league games to get match fitness so it has to happen at some point.

I've had plenty of hamstring injuries but it's not relevant because I'm not a professional athlete and just came back playing again when I felt ok. It's not similar to how you deal with an injury in professional sport.

Again.... this is a RECRUITMENT issue. The lack of forward signings is absolutely pathetic and I want to see accountability where people are replaced for failing to back the manager.

It might have something to do with Dyche telling Boyland that he was finished his rehab a few days ago then yesterday he said he isn't finished it. People are just confused I think.

We are not in the luxurious position of being able to fork out a big chunk (most?) of our transfer budget on Chermiti if he’s not ready to play. Dyche already seems reluctant to give Branthwaite a chance. Are we going to have to watch Maupay miss sitters every week while Chermiti plays for the under 21s?
If we don't get a more experienced striker this will be a theme all season because in no world is Chermiti ready to be our starting number nine

If you announce that X is unavailable two days before a game, you’re giving your opponent an advantage. Silva was likely planning for DCL to play and was drilling his CBs accordingly.

I get what you are saying, we should have signed someone to be in place for that game and for the long term, the club (Board, Thelwell & Manager) gambled on Maupay working by the time we got someone in. It hasn`t and now the alarm bells are ringing...

Nothing wrong with a big name signing for 1 season, this will do 2 things IMO

1- Other players will look at that, IMO it will improve Evertons pulling power in regards recruitment.
2- It will provide goals for a season, maybe 2, as we move closer to BMD and unlocking more revenue.

Looking at recent sources all we have out there is Ekitike (On Loan) and Beto (On Loan) so it does appear the club is taking a short term look at the problem.

Why not get a player who has only really felt at home at Everton which will bring the best out of him, what would it take to bring Rom back? £200k per week? I don`t know what portion Inter paid, I don`t believe it was his full wages but if it is £200k per week that is £10m for the season which we make up by finishing 12th which is more than achievable.

Just think it makes sense... would be happy if it did happen, which I don`t think it will and equally would be happy to have Ekitike or Beto.

Exactly so you see how it might be different for a professional?

We can agree on your last point though. We shouldn't be in any position where we are, once again, waiting for Dom to come back before we can kick on.
