I feel very sorry for him, he came here carrying an injury and was only partially fit and that divvy Silva still played him anyway and nearly ruined his career.

I doubt that the Gray deal to Saudi will happen now. It’s not like they are negotiating and want to save themselves a million quid through the mistaken belief that leaving things until the last minute gets you a bargain.

If they want a player, they just go out and get them, and Gray has been available all summer!

I think by and large Dutch players just do not suit the PL, the majority have struggled in this league but always seem to do well elsewhere. I think some of it comes from the fact that the whole "Total Football" thing was largely about using positioning and passing to show you don't need to run about like headless chickens all the time yet the first requirement in the PL for players is an almost athletics like fitness base due to the speed of the league. Good luck to him, he has always looked decent when I have seen him (apart from when he was here)

Gray I think is one we can jettison. We have Danjuma, McNeil, Harrison who naturally play in wide roles, dobbin & young for emergencies & garner for mega emergencies.

Gomes is on £110k a week. Is it better to try and get shut and hope Onyango improves? It’s a tricky one. He’s probably our most creating midfielder even at his 1/3rd pace.

But I also think McNeil, Danjuma and Harrison are candidates to play off the striker instead of Doucoure. They are better suited than he is. In which case we need the extra wide player. Think with Gray we have to keep and reassess in January. We have an option on his contract so no rush.

He’s a player that has succeeded under Dyche before with 9 goals in 26 games.

Opens up other options for us, as he can cover many positions, if he was needed at LB Young could go right, etc

Next season a lot of our players come to the end of their contracts, Danjuma and Harrison end their loans and even if they do well will we have the money to buy them outright. We seem to be just kicking the can down the road.

Gray has won us games in the past, on that basis he is the better option right now.

The business side of it is all fine but only matters if we get to use the advantages of selling.

I think the selling advantage is going into that meeting in October and showing them how we’re a club who has made money on transfers and also heavily reduced our wage bill.

But from a pure football perspective I see your point on Gray, I just don’t agree it’s worth it for the price/infrequency these moments happened over the last 2 years relative to his minutes played then reducing that to let’s say eight 20 minute cameos

We really need this season to be the one the physios actually do some work on preventing injuries. We are very lean in certain areas.

I read that there’s a buyout clause for Harrison that we can execute but it’s probably prudent to see how he gets on in terms of injuries etc
