Chevalier and Verbruggen are highly rated
Alemdar (Rennes)
Trubin (Shakhtar)
Mamardashvili (Valencia)
Bazunu (Southampton)

...and more.

May need to move Begovic as well with him being 36 next month.

Could do with a young keeper and another 30-33.

Harry
Tyrer

I haven’t seen anything to say he is going to be worth more than that to us.
I’d take it and run. He is not a def starter for us at the minute.
3 x 25 million signings. Until we balls it up obviously
How lucky that some of the best clubs in the land have...

...also Lille have a 20% sell on.

Let's be clear though, there is not a chance in hell that we're turning down a £70m bid if it comes in. It's pointless saying they should hold out for more because in the position we're quite clearly in, we'll be biting their hands off at that price. I really like the look of Onana but £70m is crazy money for what he's actually done, it's the type of deal we'd normally be going mad about us doing - spending twice as much as they could have done last year despite him not necessarily having shown much more as a player.

Agree that if we do have to replace Pickford then either retaining Begovic or finding another very experienced keeper will be as important as finding a young keeper to be his eventual replacement for the long term.

Bazunu and Meslier will probably both become fine goalkeepers but it’s probably not entirely coincidental that the bottom two clubs have young inexperienced keepers as their first choice option, and of course a big part of Leicester being down there is the failure to replace Schmeichel.

Quality, consistent goalkeeping is so important and hard to find that (if we stay up) I’d be reluctant to part with JP for anything short of silly money but if we do we need to get the balance right in terms of investing for the long term and getting someone who can slot in and be relied on right away- having ‘one for the future’ doesn’t get results. Tougher than you think to get that right.

whether you see his worth or not, someone comes in with £70m - after Lille take their cut of profit (so approx £40m profit of which we get £32m) we're left with £60m ish (give or take)

Too good to turn down - the issue is how much faith we have that we reinvest 100% of that money and the quality of the player our transfer team get in.

more than doubling your money in one season is good business, irrespectiv of the player... no one is irreplaceable for us now.

£30m, no? We would still have to pay Lille what we bought for him plus the sell on fee?

the money we paid for him is in the past (I get in real terms it probably isn't and it would cancel out outstanding balances). But we would be able to reinvest on the klarna methods we use as a club lol we are making about £30m profit in this fantasy/media scenario.

but of £70m I guess we have to pay lille £8-10m for the 20% profit - ((£70m-£30m)*0.2) so we SHOULD be able to reinvest approx £60m (obviously the maths is not as basic as that but as a rough guide)

Richarlison on loan with an obligation to buy the following season is a no brainer.

If Inter dont sign Rom from Chelsea we should try our luck with a cheeky loan deal.

Richarlison Lukaku McNeil

Get it done Everton !!

Meslier has a baby face but he's 23 and has the best part of 200 games under his belt, i'm not sure it's his inexperience that's been the issue as much as him not being that good/having a poor run of form. If we're still in the PL I agree that you wouldn't want a novice replacing Pickford but ideally you'd be bringing someone in who can be good in the medium to long term otherwise you're just kicking the can down the road. I think the number 2 situation is a pretty easy one to fill, there's always going to be a number of experienced keepers who are more than happy to fill that role.

Osimhen to Chelsea, DCL to Napoli, Lukaku to Everton, job done.

In all seriousness we need to find a way to get real quality into this team and if we can’t afford to buy it in this market then loaning guys like Richy or Lukaku, no matter how unlikely to happen, should be explored. The wages / loan fees would be eye watering but we can’t keep circling the drain with half-decent players. Sprinkling in a couple of great players would make all the difference.
